why would a vendor add a second wood layer at bottom of the cabinet

    Yeah, we have a few machines we did this to. Bottom line, it's to prevent or repair from theft. There's really no way you can damage the bottom with a forklift. Ususally found on older machines, as the newer ones didn't really have as much money in them.
