So I've kinda been taking a pinball hiatus for the past few months or so. Just got a little burned out. Haven't turned my games on in quite some time.
Had some people over tonight who wanted to play some games. Wiped the dust off the glass and flipped on all my games.
BSD through up a "Set Time & Date" error.
I wonder why?
Don't be lazy! Get those batteries off the boards!!
Mar 2020 my a$$
First time I've ever had this happen to me.
Guess I've been lucky so far.
I wonder of Duracell will refund me the $0.99 that I spent on the remote battery holder?

Quoted from JonH123:

I use remote battery holders and put lithium batteries in them.
Never had a leak yet.

The OCD side of me tells me to do the same thing but my cheapness trumps my OCD.

Quoted from Crash:

Counterfeit Duracells are commonly found online. Where did you buy these?

I think they were in the game when I got it. Originally on-board. I added the remote holder

Quoted from Whysnow:

I put NVRAM on every game I can!

If the old one was already in a socket I'd do it in a minute.
I avoid wrenching on WPC CPU boards whenever possible.

Traces are so delicate.
Me after installing socket:
"It was working perfectly until I fixed it"

Battery holders are cheap and so are batteries.
Just my opinion.

Quoted from Whysnow:

I am far from an expert in board work, but using the right tools and what I have learned here and no issues. Granted I practiced removing component on a crap board before ever doing it on a real board.

Oh I've installed sockets on WPC CPU boards before. Usually while repairing corrosion damage.
So maybe I'm just lazy and making excuses.

Hell I might be too lazy to pull the board even if someone was installing it for free.
I am developing some bad habits.
