After reading this thread the last few days I have come to the conclusion that everyone is confusing flippers with scumbags. I flip pins. Do it all the time. I don't lie or hide what I am doing to either buyers or sellers. I don't come up with elaborate stories about how I grew up with this game and played it with my now dead family member and I want to buy yours but only have a budget of 40% your asking price. I don't blanket CL or FB with wanting to buy pinballs for X amount so I can come lowball you.
What I do is deal with many different people. I get calls all the time just to see what I have laying around. I get calls to come get games. What keeps me going is buying games from people that don't want to deal with FB, CL, and yes, Pinside. A good example of this happened a few months ago. I was buying a game and the seller had a second one priced fair but not sold. I asked about it, he gave an honest description of the game. I gave him a package price offer. He was hesitant at first, but accepted. After the games were loaded he explained he had a ton of hits on the game but it as always people wanting more pics or complaining about little things like shooter wear or its not HUO. I told him I don't concern myself with little things and had buyers lined up on both games. Now I am his first call when he has something to sell.
When I sell a game, it's the same way. People that know me or even just bought a game know I am honest. I don't hide things. If I am selling it as is where I don't touch it, I will go through the game with you and tell you what I see. Lots of my customers will trust me enough to just tell me to shop it out and bring it, no inspection.
