My opinion is based on not liking Keith designed rulesets. They are too complicated, require too much grinding and lately have relied on too much multiball to paper over the defects - I’m looking at Hobbit as well. For all the proof you need, just remember how proud he was when describing the “billions of combinations” on POTC that really add zero fun to the game in any usable way except for the most hardcore rules obsessed tournament player.
This isn’t JJP thing - not a thing wrong with gameplay on Dialed In. It’s a great shooter and has a nicely balanced rule set with plenty of available multiballs but ones that fit logically and aren’t the entire premise of the game. But he wasn’t the lead rules designer on that game.
I know he has his fans and this isn’t a knock against him as a person. Maybe he feels that since the home market is the primary focus of JJP he needs to make the games harder or more complicated, or maybe he just really likes multiball. But there’s definitely a trend there that I hope he reconsiders given the reception of the last couple of machines. I just think a game has to be fun with one ball the majority of the time.
