I had always heard a fake Rolex kept time just as good as a real one.

Quoted from Toads:That's why I don't like virtual pinball.
That's what MMr reminded me of when I played it.
Quoted from MrBally:Funny thing is that I recall Roger Sharpe was brought in to "certify " that MMR played the same as the original Williams MM. What's up with that?
Perhaps his reflexes aren't what they were 20 years ago. Vision might be going as well....
What I gather from all this is they were able to save money during production by using a system that emulated the original code and thus increasing profit margins, instead of making the game like the original.
In doing so it introduced erratic timing and delays that were not in the original running original code, that some that are sensitive to these things notice, where others are more than happy with their purchase.
Quoted from jorro:isnt it like with a placebo? now that i think it plays different, it plays different????
I don't know, but I noticed the differences long before the results of this scientific study were revealed.
Quoted from twenty84:What I don't understand is all the AFMr and MMr owners who are vocally claiming this isn't an issue or isn't important to them.
They already spent their $8000 and have already had to pay for extras like color display and diffusers. Another pricy adjustment might just put them over the edge.
Kind of nice to see CGC showing up and trying damage control, instead of Rick saying then go buy something else.
Quoted from fosaisu:IMO they're now the gold standard for use of Pinside as a tool for communicating with and responding to customers.
So, did they finally take care of all those that had invisible ink and tomahawked playfields in their MMrs?
Quoted from fosaisu:No idea.
Exactly. I read those thread and there was never any response to those issues in those threads except one guy that really forced the issue got to buy a playfield. Others received repair kits and diffusers.
And yes, CGC was already a member on this forum with other posts.
Quoted from fosaisu:Not saying I'd be appeased if I were an original MMr buyer that got poor support. I also thought the PPS/CGC response to subpar MMr playfields was very weak, and posted as much plenty of times.
But CGC seems to be doing much better with AFMr communication....
Communication is always good when somebody is trying to sell a new product.
It's how well that communication is when expensive things go wrong that really matters IMO.
