Uh ... let's see ... maybe because (as has been pointed out countless times in this thread) it's actually a really fun pinball game and if you're into PINBALL, you'd likely be doing yourself a favor by playing one. Regardless of whether you're into Mustangs or not.

Calling a game a turd is an opinion, and isn't that what this forum is about? It's not only for positive opinions, and if you hate a game and voice that opinion, I don't see that as shitting on a thread. (For examples of that, search "Kaneda" and "Captain_Kirk". Although some folks would say add "Beelzeboob" to that, but I respect their right to be wrong.)

Why buy a Whitewater pin when real rafting is actually more fun?

... same logic would apply to every pin released...

I buy pins because I play pinball.

I was just joking by the obvious relationship between "shitting" and "turd".

But... What you are failing to acknowledge is that there is a big difference in "How" something is said/expressed. For example....

- a) I really don't like game X, it's boring and the points are extremely imbalanced

- b) IMO game X is a piece of shit, a total turd, I wouldn't wipe my a** with that piece of crap!

Both are "opinions", but you can easily see how b) earns the tag: "shitting"

Meh. I take both as opinions. The first is the way a politician would say it. The second is the way I would probably say it, i.e.: like hitting you over the head with a baseball bat. Some people can handle it and are just as strongly opinionated, others think I'm a douche. C'est la vie.

BTW...I only quoted you because you were the last post in that discussion and I'm too lazy to go back and find the other stuff.

The sticking point for me is the " this game sucks" or "it is a turd" without an " in my opinion" added. I'm sure it sounds petty but without the disclaimer it comes off like the person is stating fact ( yes I work part time for the grammar police) if I say "Mustang is a pinball machine" is that fact or opinion? It could be both but it can be proven objectively that it is a pinball machine by all the standard definitions.
What if I say "Mustang is fantastic" is that fact or opinion? Can I prove my statement objectively, maybe or maybe not, therefor I would add an "IMO" to clarify my statement to avoid needing to prove anything or sound like I'm trying to state fact.
What about "Mustang is a fantastic pinball machine"?
We have really dumped down our conversations to little useless or wasted sound bites and that is a shame.
I know it is just an Internet forum but it is where people go to find information to make decisions about purchases and "it sucks" isn't helping anybody. It also is more insulting to those who like a game, I sold my ST because I really couldn't get into the rules and didn't enjoy playing it but I never said it sucked.

I agree with your *most* comment, many can and do know the difference when they read it BUT it is the people that pass along the stuff verbatim:
"So dude I heard there is a (fill in the blank) pin, wanna check it out"
" no way man I saw on pinside it sucks"

As far as drama, that is really my point about the " it sucks " I think it is said intentionally to cause drama... why "hate" any pin that much. Try it ( ummm more than 2 or 3 balls ) and move on if it isn't your style or theme etc... no need to get pissed off

To the original question I have agree that, as silly as it seems to me, the theme is a big turn off for many and the main reason for weak price/ sales. It has now been tainted and people who turn their collections frequently don't want to risk a weak market when it is time to sell so in order to purchase they want in cheap.
A couple people said they don't like the game play/ rules but from my experience most players enjoy it a lot. I think of it as a more "traditional" or classic style (drops, spinner, etc but no " toy") but that is because I grew up with EMs if somebody started playing in the 90s then Mustang seems out of place in the current generation of pins. I'm not really concern about the lower values I think it will anchor my collection for a long time.

Can't speak for others on here who gave harsh opinions of Mustang, but I did so because I have strong feelings of dissapointment. It was a theme I was excited about. If it wasnt so bad (in my opinion) I would have bought NIB. I tried to give a few reasons for my dislike, such as a need for a second ramp, shallow ruleset, scoop that doesnt go deep enough which gives a feeling of cheapness, but sometimes its just hard to describe why you dont like a particular pin. People that call a game a turd after only a few plays, yeah that is annoying. But I feel, having played the game extensively and beaten the final wizard mode gives me the right to call the game a turd.

Really? Most of the complaints I heard were about the layout. The narrow shots. The hidden Hulk Smash target. The saucer that should have been a scoop, leading to constant lip outs from the right flipper and Black Widow ramp diverter. (Earthshaker did it much better) The oddly-shaped BW ramp itself that sits too far forward leading to more incomplete shots than I've seen in any other game. The worst part, however, are the outlanes. The Thor targets and the Coulson and Hill targets jut out so far into the middle of the table that it leads to two of the biggest channels to the drains in pinball. It got to the point where I just said "Screw the skill shot or any Captain America progress, I just want to make a shot," and short plunged every time.

Mustang is great! It's the first Stern pin in a while in which it has really big things you can do, without having to have all the stars align (burnout super jackpots, gear 6 supers, killer drift vs getting everything to work out perfectly on GOT, ACDC, TWD). It plays the most like a Williams game from the golden era of pinball than any other stern out there. Lights are amazing, and the music on the LE is sweet.

The only thing holding it back is that it doesn't have the code love that some of the more recent sterns are getting. With just a few tweaks to the software it could really be the best stern out there IMO

That explains why I got 2 out of the blue emails about buying my machine last night.
They were still making low offers, so I turned them down.
Personally I am going to print these out myself now that I have a better understanding of the rules. Nice job!
I like how you include the model car size for replacement as well. I was wondering which ones will fit.

Apparently these are the four "selectable" songs on the Pro:

 Ace of Spades – Motorhead
 Drag City - Jan & Dean
 Free Ride - Edgar Winter

I had some family over last night and mostly all of them were new to pinball. After a couple hours of playing I asked them what their favorite game was and 3 of the 4 said Mustang. None of them are car enthusiasts nor do they even own a Ford vehicle among them, but they found that game to be the "fastest" and "most multiball fun."

In a lineup I think this is a great game to have in your collection. With Tuna's expanded info sheet now in hand I'm learning even more about the rules and scoring depth that the game has.

Once in a while I swap out the factory songs.
The Cars Shake it up and Def Leopard Rocket work great.
Not sure if there is a song difference in the pro and other models.

Congratulations on the new high score - that is impressive!

It's unfortunate that you apparently didn't enjoy the gameplay that achieved it, but no game will be loved by all that play it. Even those who may excel at it.

Mustang may not be a top 20 but if You own a Premium or LE and play it enough it's kinda contagious!

Since You don't own it and have just played it elsewhere You might get a surprise after owning it for a month and 100 plays.

It is Fast and Furious.

I wish someone would make a mod for turntable so You can see the pops. I would pay dearly to get that mod!!!

Here's a mod for you. First send me $20.00. Then wait...... wait...

Just take the large scale car off the turntable, leaving just the spinning disc. Blocking those pop bumper caps, which look great (BTW). By accident my pin doesn't have a car on the turntable. I replaced the M3 car last year with another car, using the supplied screws. The replacement Mustang didn't have enough plastic in the bottom for a good grip of one of the screws. When waxing the playfield last week I bumped the car and it half way popped off. So I just took it off.
An idea I had was to mount 7 smaller scale cars on the turntable. With them arranged in a spoke pattern with the front of the Mustangs facing the letters on the Turn Table. Keeping the cars the on the ramps and Turn Table same scale.
Air balls rarely hit that area of the game as that cross over ramp blocks that direction. Twaaannngggg.

This is an intriguing alternative. The 7 various Mustangs would fit right in with the Mustang multiball mode too. Perhaps something in the center (such as a trophy cup) might anchor the arrangement. Unfortunately, either way, the view of the pop bumpers will still be fairly obstructed though.

I admit once it was released the code was not good. This is one Stern I did not preorder and I'm a car guy.

Once it was fleshed out and code matured it was fantastic. I got a Boss. It's a fast, fun addicting game with the ability to add your own music is a plus with pin browser.

I sold my HUO TSPP and LOTR a year ago and don't miss those.

1. The players position in the race and the number of seconds left in the race
are now unique variables for each player. This solves the problem in
a two player game where the 2nd person to start road course would start with
a different players position and time.

when you restart the road course mode.
3. Added code to add more time if you drained with less then 10 seconds left in
the road course mode.

We now have both. Bought my wife a new BMW 535xi three years ago. No problems at all. Really nice car.

And I just picked up my new 2016 Ford Edge two weeks ago. Traded in my Acura MDX. This is my first Ford in about 35 years. And my first American car in 20 years. I am really digging it so far. Have to give them credit. Ford has come a long way. I think they got almost everything right on it.

I learned how to drive a manual transmission in 1965 on my best friend's older brother's new 3 speed - 289 Mustang. I used to window shop this same Ford dealership back then when they had real Shelby Mustangs in the showroom.

And now I'm drooling over the new Shelby Mustang they have in the showroom and I can afford it. Fortunately, my logical brain and driving history will stop me from buying it for now. But damn that 'stang IS sexy.
