    Quoted from pezpunk:

yeahhh, no thanks. aren't they already scraping the bottom of the barrel with fucking Aerosmith and KISS? it's not like there are any more embarrassingly pathetic dadrock bands than that.
i mean sure, i'd be all about rock pins if The Ramones, Minor Threat, Misfits, Propagandhi, Buzzcocks, or Copstabber were financially viable options. But i'm under no illusions that they are at all, sadly

I was into PUNK in high school Dead Kennedys

... why did the OP edit the thread title to be less intelligible?

It truly is unfortunate that "Dad/Grandpa Rock" hating guys can't receive a pin to suit well cultivated tastes.
Absolutely, anything over 10 years old is utter crap and dangerously expired like a yogurt left out in the sun for a week.
I think the world of pinball manufacturing needs something new and obviously much better!

Next from Stern, the Autotune Drum Machine Special Edition.

You don't actually play the machine, you just stream it and complain from the safety of your home. It costs the same as other machines, but there is no need for any physical property since that is both archaic and inconvenient.

Multi ball mode unlocks a stage of synchronized dancers, eliminating the need for any actual musicians.

During video mode, the player must quickly sync different music files from aforementioned dad rock bands on a laptop, with new urbanized beats to create something wonderfully new!

Wizard mode opens a laser and light show to dazzle, entertain and distract.

those would be awesome, but i doubt Stern would be too psyched about building games for a customer base of like 9 people.

While I find humor in your post, I feel bad that you think my generation's only musical accomplishment is auto tune. While I agree that the mainstream pop is full of nothing but auto tune and EDM, my generation has some of the most talented bands, you just need to look for them. Most of the music I listen to is composed of musicians who take inspiration from decades of music and blend music from all genres. Its no longer just rock, rap, or classics anymore. With the internet and everything at our fingertips musicians these days have the ability to train themselves in ways that musicians in decades past could only dream of.

most of the popular music from EVERY generation is straight up garbage. over time, a filtering process takes place and what gets remembered is the good stuff. that's why it can SEEM like music from the 60s/70s/80s was better. most of the crap has been thrown out. look at this list of the top song of the year from each year -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_Year-End_number-one_singles_and_albums

is anyone crying out for a pin based on "The Way We Were" by Barbra Streisand (1974)? or how about "Let's Get Physical" by Olivia Newton-John, the top song from 1982? the truth is every generation has a strong helping of mega-popular pablum that it conveniently forgets about in order to hypocritically berate subsequent generations.

Don’t think it’s been posted but my vote would be for a DEVO pin. Just think of the modes! Whip it wizard mode!

Fisherdaman, Pezpunk...you make very good arguments on the above posts.
Last thing I wish to do is high-jack the thread with a "you kids get off my lawn" routine. I was trying to be humorous in my reply above as I get very annoyed by the "you're old" bit.
The topic of debate is "Do you think there should be more rock themed pins". Simple answer is, why not? No one is forced to buy these things Make as many titles of whatever you feel will generate revenue for your company. I hope every manufacturer is successful! Not only is it good for our hobby, but for the barcades and route players.

I am a total music snob. I am a pilot by trade, but should have been a musician. I collect guitars, keyboards, amps (see other threads) as well as pins. I studied music on the side in high school and college. I have written, recorded and participated in a great deal musically over my years on this planet.

While I do not like all genres of music, I offer them respect where and when I can. Taste is subjective.
Anything new musically is very welcome. I agree it is difficult to find it. Corporate radio with their drive to push the artists they want, and the over use of advertising make this a difficult task.

Not a huge fan of Alice Cooper, but he puts on a great show. Will I buy that pin? No, I will not.
Will I buy AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, or Aerosmith pins? No, but I do enjoy their music.

Pinball machines are not for everyone. I host big parties. I am fortunate to own several games.
Anyone under the age of 20 just glances at the pins and goes to the skeeball table or arcade units. Under the age of 14? They sit there staring at their smart phone.

I realize the good ol' days weren't always that good.

If an Imagine Dragons or Justin Bieber pin is the catalyst to get new folks interested in pinball, God bless and God speed.

I think they need to be hybrid music pins with a theme (think the old Aerosmith vs Aliens shooter arcade game from the 90’s). Have the bands do something other than perform.

I started a thread about a Dead Kennedys pinball machine, which I am now permanently ejected from.

I guess Jello wouldn't have it any other way.

Do you think there should be more rock and music pins instead of all these new movie and tv pins?

No No and No. Don't need any more Rock OR movie and TV pins. How about something ORIGINAL. Reminds me of TV and movies too much with pins these days, nothing but remakes and the same themes over and over.......just my .02

    #116 6 years ago
    Quoted from Bohdi:

    How about something ORIGINAL.

It would be nice from Stern for sure. Looking deeper could Borg handle it? Has he ever made a good non licensed game? Tough to find any non licensed from him at all. Even if you take a wider idea like NBA there's no winners...although that was during the rough time for Stern

    #117 6 years ago

I wouldn't mind seeing kickout return ramps like that of High Speed. I think we have been too catered and spoiled. Change it up , go non licensed ala Big Bang Bar and others .

    #118 6 years ago

I would echo others here and say make what the market demands.

Personally, I would like to see more original themes including a pin that pays homage to all past generations in a single game.

in another year or two, Jerry's devillock is gonna have to be made out of his back hair.

You can make fun of his hairline, but nothing is fatter and balder than a pinball expo.....

Everybody cries out ORIGINAL but all Pinside does is bitch about original themes whenever they appear.

Dialed In - How stupid, a game with a cellphone on it!!!!!!! I'm not getting tied into another 3 year contract like I did with Verizon.

Big Juicy Mellons - Stupid Stern, my wife is not going to let me have a game with a woman holding Cantaloupes !!!!! What if my 14 year old daughter saw that????? It's friggin fruitnography!!

Total Nuclear Annihilation - Who's going to buy a new game with no ramps????? It's like a neon painted EM!!!!!

SW - WTF I have to hit a third button while I'm playing?!?
    - It has new rules that involve math, this is dumb, since when is pinball aboot points?!?!

    hahaaha...oh pinside.

It's funny that all the old guys bitch about Autotune, but it's been used since the 1970s by every major artist (Ozzy, Queen, Crue, Plant, Floyd...). Back then it was called the Eventide Harmonizer, and was a godsend for correcting vocal pitch.

In the late 90s producers started using the pitch software as an actual vocal effect (think of Cher's "Believe" ) and the sound caught on like wildfire.

Singers like T-pain who made themselves famous with the "Autotune effect", sing even better without it, but you got to give the people what they want:

dude, two of those games are currently sitting at #6 and #19 all time on the Pinside Top 100. I think it's fair to say they were VERY well received!

I want you to behave like a real, thinking, human being.

Read the posts about Dialed-In and relish in the bitch-fest.

A voting poll that most pinsiders don't take part in is not the bitch-fest that went on about the game on the forum.

    Two totally separate things.

A small number of loud voices don’t speak for everyone. The top 100, while flawed, is a better barometer of general consensus than looking for the loudest or most persistent posters. You and I both know this.

I'm on day 5 of a 666 day campaign emailing Stern about the trve Norwegian Black Metal pin I've been hearing about.
Burn the churches then stab a mf multiball.
