Just wondering what the purpose of this screw is? It's about halfway through the right loop and doesn't seem to connect anything under or on top of the play field. The ball slams into it every time it goes through the loop and all I see it doing is slowly chipping away at the balls which in turn would slowly scratch up the play field.

Mine is just an empty hole there, no screw.

The right loop sends the ball to a hole that kicks it out into the right orbit so that wouldn't be the case. Maybe the screw is to slow it down before it hits that hole? But even then there is another metal most (that you can see in my picture at the bottom) that the ball hits before it falls into the hole.

Looks like you have some rubber around the ball guide wire to the left too. That doesn't look stock. There'd be no easy way to replace that without pulling the wire from the playfield.

Mine has the screw as well and pretty sure it came from the factory that way. It looks like it has a thick plastic or rubber washer under the screw. Not sure of the function, I'll have to watch next time I play it. Mine is a 2007 build.

It does have a plastic ring under the screw, but the ball still hits the screw head. The head is actually dented from the balls hitting it over it's lifetime.

Well I took the screw out and played a few games. I noticed that the ball bounced back out a few times when I shot the right loop. This never happened before. So I assume that screw was added to prevent bounce back out of the right loop. I still don't like that the ball basically slams into a metal screw every time I shoot the right loop so this is what I did. I had an extra rubber post bumper so I put it under the screw and tightened enough to the point where the screw was just below the rubber. Now the ball bounces over every time without hitting the screw head and does not bounce back into the playfield.

Every TSPP I have seen has had that screw with a spacer under it. Last minute fix from the factory.

And poor Mr. Largo was the casualty.
