Greetings!

Just shopping a Gottlieb El Dorado. Removing an extra post (!) that I didn't realize was never intended to be on the playfield. (Gotta check the flyers for the best guess as it should be.)

So on the Right Hand side there are two lanes. The Ball guide has two posts underneath supporting the guide. Both have rubber on them. In my opinion, there is an "extra" post in front of the guide. I feel that it's redundant and chokes the inner lane to the left.

Is it to absorb the force of the ball coming off the bumper so that guide lasts longer?

Opinions? Reasons? And yes, it is on the flyer as it's supposed to be there.

Agree, OEM. Very popular game in it's day. Drop targets were the rage.

Designers shoehorned 15 DT, 10 RO's, 4 flippers and 2 PB's. Only so much real estate.

IMHO- Looks like an afterthought to protect or change undesirable vector.

This would be the best answer for El Dorado. On Solar City that post can be moved slightly, to limit ball access to the lane with the lit 'Special'.
