So I picked up a Monte Carlo yesterday and while working on it and looking over documentation and photos I noticed that my machine doesn't have the "Extra Ball When Lit" insert or graphic. It does however still award extra ball if the conditions are met. I did notice the S/N was around ~50, so maybe it's just an early version without the insert? Anybody have any ideas?

Possibly a sample game. Great find if that’s the case.

Nevermind, you have a play field from Odds and Evens

Ah, solved! I'm guessing it came from the factory this way as it has definitely seen its share of wear.

Look for serial numbers matching on the Manufacturers Certificate on the top arch or inspection tag stapled to the playfield vs. The ones on the two cabinet pieces.

Now it's definitely confirmed an Odds and Evens play field, there are signs of a play field swap now that I've looked closer. It seems whoever did the swap messed up the gate close wiring, the lower gate mushroom doesn't do anything but score points and the special gate stays open with unlimited free game potential. Time to start a tech thread...
