Yeah, he got a sweetheart deal and ended up serving WAY less time than if they had been able to prove he diddled his relative (in addition to the child porn they had on him). The separate relative case was just too far in the past, so the DA took what they could prove and Trudeau got a pretty short sentence, considering the severity of the charges and likelihood they were true. He's still a registered sex offender with those real-world restrictions for the rest of his life, though.

Yeah, that's the part that is confusing. I checked the prison web page on his original parole date (because I couldn't believe he was getting off so easy) and I'm sure it said his status was released. Maybe it was a mistake? It seemed to be way early.
Whatever happened, he's now back in with a COVID-19 outbreak at his prison. Bad news for him.

Probably different sentences for different crimes in different jurisdictions. One sentence was over the next one started.

The other case was dismissed when the sentence was given for this one. I was watching both. I thought that was a huge stroke of luck at the time because that case was a lot worse. This is the same sentence for the child porn possession case, but the in/out/in part is confusing.

Actually, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections, John Trudeau is due for release from the Taylorville Correctional Center in Taylorville on parole on 15th November, 2021.

Specifically, I'm curious to know whether he committed a new crime, whether it was a parole violation, whether a judge decided to lengthen his sentence unilaterally, or what.

Who knows? I'm always doubtful that people who are "miswired" in this particular way can be rehabilitated and released back into society without reverting to their past behavior.

I was curious, since Nov 15 2021 has passed, whether he had been released. But now that same website as above says:
Admission Date: 11/15/2021
Projected Parole Date: TO BE DETERMINED
Last Paroled Date: 11/15/2021
Projected Discharge Date: 3 YRS TO LIFE - TO BE DETERMINED
So maybe he's now serving out the second sentence, 3 for the assault, 3 for the porn? Or is this just what it looks like when parole is denied?
My wife and I love to watch True Crime shows. What always perplexes us is sentencing for different crimes for murder, rape, etc. The pedos always get very light sentences. With time off for good behavior its almost a slap in the face for the victims. Smiling for your sex offender mugshot shows no remorse.

Yeah, it was weird on the 15th. They had a "released" notice, immediately followed by an "admitted" notice, and then the parole became TBD. I don't understand enough about prison to know what that sequence means...
