Quoted from CrazyLevi:

I haven't owned a car since 1998 and it was a two-tone silver/gray landau roof 1983 Ford Crown Victoria with all the options which is way cooler than any of the overpriced crap you guys are bragging about so stuff your dicks back in your pants!
God I miss that car.
What were we talking about again?

The first car I ever bought was a 79 Caprice for $100 and you had to start it with a screwdriver. Man I loved that car...

If you’re taking apart the pinball machine for hours/days while putting in washers then you are not driving it.[quoted image]

+1 for the .gif Chaka...

New to this whole pin collecting and have zero skin in the game. Probably will take an act of God for me to ever afford a NIB anyways. But I do enjoy a good serving of internet drama and this one delivers so thank you all for that.

Now for my opinion: Digital printing is the culprit. Huge pain in the ass to go back to old school tried and true methods of playfield decoration. No print around posts would be a good bandaid. When I see this clear coat separating I see a fixable blunder.

The first home I bought a decade ago came with some beat ass wood flooring covering the entire first floor never seen any love since it was built in 1960. I spent a week sanding and covering with hi build poly never had worked with this before. Had to move in a week later but the stuff was still tacky. Like peel it up with your fingernail. So I laid down cardboard and left it for like two months. Had a diamond plate floor when lifted the covering up.

Bottom line is JJP knows what they need to do but will they do it?

Quoted from EaglePin:

It's evil genius at work. Definitely not a good example of good customer service and standing behind the quality of the product.

That is exactly it. A 100% calculated outcome. Decide what the desired level of responsibility is wanted and then make a legally reviewed stance to present to the customer.

Some will not even consider the offer.
Some will worry about the parameters.
Some will tire over time.
Some will sell privately.
Some will just play the game.

Few will actually follow thru with the return.

JJP ends up taking the route of least liability. And that is a win in today’s business world...

Quoted from indypinhead:

Maximum strength is achieved at 1 1/2 times the diameter of the screw.

Now this I can believe. The prior post did not jive with my logic...

I have a JD that spent most of its life routed over 30,000 plays and not a single friggen dimple. Not one. And If I cared I bet I could buff it back to a high sheen…

Where the hell did that technology go..?

Clear proof that oversized washers are not doing anything. Obviously the problem starts with the art not being adhered to the wood but it is that post movement that is doing the damage. Has anyone filled those oversized holes with something yet?

When those play fields finally start to get normal wear they are going to peel like a protective film off plexiglas…

Quoted from JoeJet:

Don't know if you all saw this video Chris posted but jump to 3:10 for another Mirco playfield disaster!

That’s exactly what I was pointing out with the clear release around the posts. That’s all its doing now because it’s soft. Wait until that crap clearcoat gets hard. Well you just saw…

Quoted from Betelgeuse:

Here's how JJP used to make their playfields. This was a point of pride for them at one time.

One thing that stood out at the end of the video was when he said “Playfields are the heart of our pinball machines.”

When the head of a company straight out blames the consumer for an inferior product that’s enough for me. But clearly your mileage may vary…

Quoted from Yelobird:

A better question as their entire product is Defined by the use of a playfield is where else in the world could they go to get thousands of playfields made in order to talk tough with Micro. I can’t think of a single company that would handle that volume or liability while partnering almost exclusively with JJP.

As has been surmised before I believe the unholy relationship is deeper and Mirco has actual stake in the company. Otherwise something would have changed and the customer would never had been blamed for “doing something to the playfield.” That is just the type of insanity you see when clearly something is wrong but nothing can be done about it.

Quoted from Yelobird:

And their other market option is?

I’m not well versed enough to answer that but my post illustrates why they may not. Regardless I’d have to agree with your assessment.
