DI is the only JJP out of the bunch I would like to own some day.

They already have "Gorilla Glass" playfields...it was called Diamond Plate, and its still available.

What I don't get...why aren't we seeing threads with a bunch of other non-JJP Mirco-made playfields flaking apart? Is Mirco making the playfield to a certain spec? What if these playfields are being manufactured to a price point, and not to the same spec as others they produce?

Well, that answers that question. Yikes! The first one looks like a total adhesion failure everywhere. I wonder if the ink is sticking well when applied, but the solvents in the clear are permiating the ink and causing delamination?

Quoted from zr11990:

When JJP started out there was a lot of talk that Jack was a Giant flying asshole. I had no idea why they said that. He walked and talked a great game. He had mouthed Gary stern amd talked about all his faults and all the BS that was going on there. After handing to deal with him I could see why people disliked him and the quality of the product and customer service of Jersey Junk Pinball is far worse than Stern who seems to have stepped up their game at least a little.

Jack is the quintessential salesman- charismatic, easy to talk to. But you can pretty much count on being lied to somewhere along the way. ABC- Always be closing.

Kind of like the guy who got a call from Jack when his Wonka had a jello playfield...Jack miraculously had the call drop as he was announcing he was entering a tunnel on his drive home, before anything could actually be rectified.

Quoted from zr11990:

Where is John Greatwich? He has been printing playfields on a printer for a long time. His don’t fall apart. Maybe he could shed some light on the subject.

He uses Varathane, no thanks.

If you truly want a bare playfield, I would consider getting a lawyer involved. There are specific weak points in the warranty a lawyer will be able to use to give you the recourse you are looking for. JJP will not change their behavior until it is cheaper to make a non-defective playfield than it is to keep paying to defend a litany of lawsuits.

After reading JJP's response with this issue, there is absolutely no grail theme out there that I would ever consider buying NIB from JJP until they can prove to us they have changed.

The title for this thread should be changed to "Why are people still buying JJP games?"

Quoted from flynnibus:

'just holding on by a few threads'

Side note- the maximum strength of thread engagement is equal to the diameter of the bolt. A 6-32 thread is about .138" in diameter. So after .138" of thread from the post is engaged in the mating thread, no more strength is attained.

Maybe JJP plucked Steve away to get access to Sterns internal processes, like playfields? Stern isn't perfect with playfields, but they are leagues ahead of JJP.

JJP can't fire Mirco...Mirco is invested into JJP and I would assume has a minority ownership stake. Hence the smoke show from Jack. Jack made a deal with the devil to save his company, and those birds have come home to roost.

Quoted from dr_light:

I'm not getting any deeper into this. You seem to be arguing quite successfully that a PC is just fine for pinball (as is Stern's system). I only want to comment on the quote above.
It's not an empty promise, and it's not that we will get around to it sometime in the future. We already do. The latest release of Woz, for example, is using the same OS and graphics drivers as GnR. I just updated our oldest game with our newest game's OS and motherboard/CPU/GPU support. Hobbit through Wonka also run on this same OS. I intend to update our OS again quite soon, and when I do all of our games will get another OS update (not just game code update). This is our standard. It's all automated and has no engineering cost to us other than me running some release scripts. How is that not already making your maintenance dream come true?

This should be made a key post, as it is something nobody really knew about until now.
