So without going into a ton of detail as this isn't the place for that, I can say that I'm one of the very few people insane enough to undertake such a project. I bought the shell of a 1960 Cadillac hearse on April 10, 2011 and since then the car has been fully and meticulously converted into in a 1959 Cadillac ambulance clone. The care will soon be given all of its iconic ghost-hunting gadgets (I have all of the screen-accurate stuff and I will have the custom parts fabricated). Funny enough, this would be the ultimate car for picking up and transporting pinball machines...

That is a sweet ride.

As most of Pinside knows, I bought a hearse in Indiana in 2014 and drove it 4500km back to Los Angeles ... with 4 pins in the back ... then shipped it all back to New Zealand.

So I can confirm they are excellent pin haulers.

And Steel Panther loved it too!

Those proton packs look awesome! Did you create them yourself?

Let me guess...it just needs Suspension Work, Shocks, Brakes, Brake Pads, Lining, Steering box, Transmission, Rear End, New Rings, Mufflers and a little wiring?

The one on the right is my first, a "scratch pack" built in 3 weeks. The second is also scratch built with a smattering of actual pieces and a lot more time to bring the level up. The newer one isn't perfect (some ribs too tall, ribbon cable is from second movie not first) but its darn close with lights and sound too. The first has some lights from a Radio Shack chaser circuit which mimic the movie but no sound.

Thanks everyone! I have a lot of Ghostbusters stuff, props etc including proton packs. Heck, Arcadius Maximus and I have busted some ghosts up in New Hampshire together even. I will post progress pictures without question...it will be a BUSY summer.

That’s awesome. I bet it would be a hit at auto shows when completed.

Great project!! Keep us posted.

As a car and pin guy. much respect to this project! I look forward to the progress! Good luck to your wallet

I am one who can look at an engine and see it as artwork. Some under-hood pics would be appreciated.

One of the great things about pinside is a thread like this, where you find someone who is crazier than yourself. Now I can go home and tell the wife, "oh, you think I'm crazy, well there is this guy . . . "

Good luck with the project, clearly going to be great!

#22 5 years ago

Hahaha, just wait until I share the other big project I've been in the middle of for too long...if I decide to; I don't want to be that guy just posting all kinds of random stuff.

That's totally fine, random obsessives are welcome here

#24 5 years ago

I love these threads! Beats all the other stuff people are talking about.

#25 5 years ago

Following can’t wait to see some progress. Good luck

Man what the heck. You live probably 30 minutes from me. Why aren't we friends yet even though you joined two weeks ago?

Well I can't know everyone. That said, yeah, you're pretty close, and I'm sure we will cross paths. Perhaps at Pinfest in a few weeks?

The roofrack should be starting soon and then all of the gadgets fitted. The interior shots I'll probably save until it is absolutely complete (it will be pretty sweet). Then it's a matter of assembling it with all body modifications, taking everything off, painting the car (a nightmare), re-assembling it all, and then last, but certainly not least, applying the Ghostbusters logos to the front doors and rear door.

Dream target: Halloween
Realistic target: who the heck knows
