I have known PayPal F&F is not safe unless you really know the person, and even then you could be stuck in a -$1200 debate leaving you're $$ in limbo.

Fact on Friends and family can be charged back if the sender has used funds from PayPal balance or bank transfer, this is handled 100% by PP

If sender used a CC he can issue a complaint with PayPal and they might not side with sender, if the sender cries to his CC company they will decide in his favor and PP will deduct the $$$ from the receiver.

The second case just happened to me and sender though he got scammed by another company with similar name to mine. He's a good dude with mutual friends so I'm not tripping.

I'm sure he will make it right but just a fair warning to others.

Quoted from Djshakes:

Hey look, another tinfoil hat thread about payment methods.

Thank God I didn't sell this clown my IJPA, JP, or ES

Quoted from PinBallPeteFromSD:

And on his end they did not freeze his account or remove money, they informed him. He looked into it and I made it right. No denying this was a royal pain in the ass for him. But I feel safer knowing that my CC and PP had my back incase of a fraud.

A recent incident on another froum reminded me of this issue.

Not to beat a dead horse as this was all fix in the end.

PayPal did pull the money making the account negative. Pete called his cc and they returned the funds to PP in days but PP didn't zero out the negative amount.

PayPal still held my account as negative until they submit the debt to collections. Being stubborn and the principal of the matter I just left the account alone as I have other sources of payments.

One week after the collections I was able to get ahold of someone at the executive resolution department at PayPal to clear my collections. The reason why it took over 180 days is, once a charge back is started the institution can say the charge was valid but still has 180 days from the initial date of claim to pull it back as disputed.

PayPal is a lousy merchant processor as most would have reinstated the amount and risk the 120 day pullback. Had I not stayed up on the matter PayPal would have kept the full amount, sold the debt and left me in collections to pay.

FU PayPal!
