I find it funny that we're re-hashing discussions that go back years. That said, I can't help but read it and chime in since I've got WOZ on the brain after playing several games on it yesterday. I really like the theme. I know it's not for everyone - which is one reason that companies produce so many different themes since some will "hook" a buyer more than another. I like having friends and kids of all ages come and enjoy my small collection. WOZ is a very family friendly and has appeal for different reasons across a range of age brackets.
On the thought of themes and personal preferences, I would put themes into several categories including , those that:
A) Engage me because I love them. Theme could compensate for gameplay flaws.
B) Do nothing for me either way. Theme doesn't interfere with good gameplay.
C) Turn me off a bit, but wouldn't stop me from buying the pin if the gameplay was awesome.
D) Would prevent me from buying a pin no matter how good the gameplay.
Themes that fall into the category for me inlcude: A) TH, LOTR B) FT C) CSI D) WWE. (note: I'm making no comment on specific gameplay on this list, just speaking to the theme in a vacuum.) Your list might be in complete reverse. That's ok. Everyone is different.
