    Thank you Xerico.

    3..2..1.. Eject!

18 pages -- half off topic, I dunno if this one can be saved... ? Been entertaining though

And in case anyone needs it to be crystal clear, continued off topic discussions will result in thread ejections.

What even is there to discuss about the topic?

    #859 2 years ago

I thought what pez punk was arguing here IS the topic. Other than that....what is it again?

What's your secret, do you believe it's simply a more sophisticated mindset or those crazy flipper fingers that make you never seem to fall? :p
I'd love to hear all the theories!

Well, since you asked, I think pinball guys all get girls because they understand that we, as a species, rely on words to convey thoughts and ideas. When one (unintentionally) uses ambiguous words, one runs the risk that one's message, and thereby possibly one's personality, is misinterpreted by the receiver. When pinball guys are notified their message is open to several interpretations, they have no problem using their expansive vocabulary to select words that ensure unambiguous thought transfer. They stop the misinterpretation at the source, rather than blame the receiving party for selecting the wrong meaning. That, in my mind, indeed indicates a more sophisticated mindset.

Well, I think guys into pinball are more social in general. I find that when you approach a guy after he's finished his game, that it's very easy to mingle and discuss whatever. I'm going to assume that these same gentleman have the same kind of positive outgoing attitude when not playing pinball.

I think you have a good point. Pinball makes us more social....its a buffer, or in the 70's, its how we met girls, by hanging in arcades.

I was just chatting with a friend about the beach. When we go to the Public beach, people dont talk to each other much.
When we go to the dog beach, where dogs are allowed in the ocean and on the beach, Everyone talks to everyone else.
The dogs are the buffer or common element.

I think Pinball has this affect too. Great point!

Maybe guys that actually go out and play pinball? Maybe it's where I live, but it's definitely not antisocial folks around where I'm at. Also most places that have pinball also serve alcohol these days. I still think it was just as much of an ice breaker back in the day as it is now. You go to an arcade around here and all the action is on the pinball machines, not the arcade cabs. You also see plenty of guys playing pinball with their girlfriends/wives.

I agree with OLDPINGUY. Talking, buffers and a common elements.

Being an operator or arcade owner in the 70's was the best of the buffer.

Whats also different, at least in Florida in the 70's were the signs:

    No Shirts
    No Shoes
    No Pets
    No Drinks
    No Food

Yet, I have many fond dates to arcades, and met many people.

    How did we do that?

Yes that would be very diff'rent than "guys in to pinball."
What you're saying in a bar/cade situation is; "People that go to bars are social."

    Dear SJW's

    Complaining does not work.

If it did my boss would pay me more & the IRS would leave me alone.

In all fairness with that one, you can take pinball out of the equation and she'll still get all the guys.

    #877 2 years ago

Here's hoping she's at least 18. Of course back then it didn't really matter did it?

If you're speaking of the age of consent it doesn't matter now...depending on your state laws

I'm just here for the pictures and videos...

You need to be careful what you wish for, and respect the AWESOME power of pinball on relationships!

All I know is, good thing my gf is OK with it, because I'm not changing... Actual question: "whatcha gonna do tomorrow?" Well, I'm gonna get up early, go to the arcade and play some pinball and DDR... Once it cools off here in AZ, that will be go skate, play some pinball, and DDR...

It's safe to say she is at least 55-60 years old right now

Damn I miss DDR! So does my cardio and overall lung capacity. Bust out some Healing Vision Angelic Mix for me next time.

Wow, this topic flatlined quickly for some reason.

I'd venture that pinball dudes are just interesting, having chosen an eminently interesting hobby, and they certainly get more exercise playing (and moving!) the games than, say, pc and console video game players do, reflecting and affecting their fitness level. On average. Arcade cab hobbyists would be somewhere in the middle, I guess!

Well it's a weird thread with weird unclear rules.

I got ejected for replying to a "Trigger" video 5 posts above me.

Be careful in here. Someone in this thread has an agenda I haven't been able to decode.

Problem number one, society is too damn sensative.
You could start a thread titled "1" and everyone would complain it was not titled "2".
Give it a rest and enjoy life while you have it.....
If this sort of discussion offends you to such an extent how in the hell do you function in day to day life.

    FLAME SUIT ON.

    Now go play pinball

    #890 2 years ago

Well I wasn't planning on this thread being resurrected. Pinball has universal appeal, isn't intimidating & can be played at any skill level.

What started as very silly & simple thread had many different arguments, twists, turns... and it's probably best off where it's been for the past 3 months.

    Happy New Year!

There are more Happy Endings in pinball.
Seriously all video games end in death.
Pinball doesn't end until you drain.
