Quoted from Hazoff:

theme, theme and theme. Its plays nice and is a fun pin but man the theme sucks and for me is a waste of a cool layout and great rule set, spinning house would have made for a fantastic Evil Dead 2 pin but I know that's unlikely and I am glad some people got a pin they love so all good.

I used to be in this camp. After realizing that WoZ's code was so stout and I didn't really have a deep game in my collection, I took the plunge and found one for a reasonable price.

The theme grew on me. It's kind of quirky and works well for a pinball game. It fits the journey of the movie and is actually kind of funny. However, there are some cheesy call-outs that I don't appreciate. Overall, I went from despising the theme to really enjoying it.

On a side note from the theme, the game is great in a home environment where you have the opportunity to dig into the rules. It's a blast to play.

Ill say woz is boring after youve had it for a while just as quick as the next guy, but have you even PLAYED the game? The freaking witch kill shot is CRAZY satisfying. Such a hard sequence.

This is another thing that people always say. It's true that there's no one defining shot in the game, but I actually like that. The software does a good job at moving critical shots around, also setting up some really fun combos.

I'm much rather build up to battle the wicked witch and complete it than hit "Do or Die" on Iron Man or triple jackpot on Insanity Falls with White Water (which are both pretty thrilling).

I can see why there's so much tension around the game. I was in the opposite camp for all the same reasons people post.... but I can say for sure now that I've spent some good time on it: WOZ is legit.

Quoted from Nokoro:

I'm a forty-something guy who grew up looking forward to watching the Wizard of Oz each year. When I was a kid, it was truly a magical experience when it aired on TV. It was the one show every year (besides the Peanuts specials) that you were allowed to stay up late for. Popcorn was made, and everyone watched.

That's funny. My mom recently visited and said almost the exact same thing when she saw my WoZ pin. She's 52.

So the theme is perfect, for old people.

Quoted from CNKay:

At my local pin location with over 40 pins and noticed a group of three casual off the street pin noobs walking up and down the rows. The group was one pretty intoxicated guy, a good looking girl and her younger brother. The big drunk guy was letting the other two pick out the games to play. They first stopped at the early as row and I believe they played a classic title. Then I noticed them again playing south park. They where finally closer to me stopped by WOZ and the guy mentioned something about the price of 1$ per game. I mentioned to him that it may not be on the price card but I knew that you got six games for 5$. He thanked me but said we won't be back here for another 10 months and was getting low on beer money. Well I am pretty sure they all played that game several times. Not sure but I think they where hooked on it, and will likely be back sooner. They did glance at MM but didn't play, GB very close to WoZ never got a look?
Kind of interesting seeing what machines people put hard earned money into given such a large collection.
Oh and after WOZ they got a rack of balls and where shooting pool.

Kept a pretty good eye on those strangers... How good looking was she?
