I have a stern Iron Man VE that keeps frying fluorescent bulbs in the back box as soon as you turn the game on.
When I bought the game, the starter and fluorescent bulb was removed. I figured maybe they had a special led backboard installed and removed when they sold it. I put a new starter in and a brand new fluorescent bulb, as soon as I turned on the game the bulb flashed really bright once and then never turned on again. I figured I got a bad bulb or starter so I changed both of them out and tried it again, same problem. Has anyone else ever had this issue? Not sure where to test.
My boards look original and I don’t see any wires that look damaged. I did see 2 small boards that look like they were added on to the lighting circuit. I circled them in the attached picture. Are these aftermarket or original? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks schudel5 and PinMonk for helping me to ID those two small boards. I will order a new ballast and give that a try. In my arcade games I never had a ballast that would damage the bulbs, usually they just quit working completely. Hopefully that will fix the problem.

I replaced the magnetic ballast with the one that PinMonk suggested, put in a new bulb and now it’s working great. Thanks for the help!
