Because I prefer to let the rest of you pre-order, then whine when it shows up and it's broke/unfinished/playfield pooling/bad clear chipping/code not supported/ every other reason people complain on here. Then..sit back, and laugh when you do it with the next release all over again. Boggles my mind y'all still buy pins sight unseen and uncompleted.

I bought ACNC sight unseen and have yet to regret it. Also the PF clear coat from Spooky is like glass with no pooling or other issues.

I didn't buy R&M because I just bought two games last week (NIB JP and a Whoa Nellie).

Ouch...JP I get (great game), but Whoa Nellie? That game is terrible. People want to dog Spooky games, but Whoa Nellie is junk. I'll take R&M over Whoa Nellie any day.

As an arcade owner I was in the market for our next pinball machine this past week and was considering Monster Bash, Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park. Rick and Morty is a great IP and one of the most important things to consider for an arcade ( for example south park does well and I think the game is way too shallow) We generally like to see the games in action and usually want to find another location that has the game before we buy.
The FOMO style of this game being rushed to market and even after it sold out there is no long play showing the game is a deal breaker and we decided in Jurassic park since ghostbusters wasn't available.
That being said it didnt feel like Spooky cared about operators with this game. This game is way too hyped and at least with stern reveals there is at least a good 2-3 hour stream showing off the beta code to make some kind a of a decision. Spooky in the past would show off gameplay which is why a red flag was raised in my mind.
I don't preorder a $60 game for myself without information so why should i make a $7500 blind purchase?

I don't get how you say Spooky doesn't care about operators. Did you see the new easy access door to the back box? Charlie also addressed 3 things that are the only issues I've had with ACNC in his very short video and how they addressed them to improve the design. I haven't seen any other companies improving games for operators by continuing to decrease build quality (example clear coat issues right now...which Spooky doesn't have). Plus based on my conversations with local operators, simple games with great IP do better from a profit stand point than anything else.

The way they are selling this game is why i say that you are conflating build quality which has no context to what i am saying when i am talking about how they rushed this to market.

Clearcoat issues? Play your games more after 400 plays on deadpool they even out. I care about the game making money if you are concerned about play field dimples then keep in in the box. As long as the cashbox is full then i am happy.

I don’t see how an IP like R&M wouldn’t kill on location. I know the local arcade kills it with SP and AP just because of the theme. Most of the serious pinball players don’t like the games, but people step up and play those two non-stop. Seems like it would be the same for R&M.

When Spooky posted the pic of the underside of Rick & Morty's playfield, my first thought was that it looked like an amateurish unkempt rat's nest, which really doesn't give me confidence in the rest of their build.

It's pre-production at this point. I'm sure a kempt rat's net is the last thing the are concerned about at this point. The final shipped product won't look like that. I have an Alice Cooper and most people who look under the hood comment how clean the Spooky design looks on that game.

I hope I don't get downvoted for this but I do want to point out the creator of Rick and Morty is a confirmed pedophile and made animators watch child porn as "reference" for many scenes. There's one episode in particular that apparently has the exact plot of one of these CP movies.

Quoted from pinballinreno:

I bought it.
Played it.
Hated it.
Sold it, never opened the box.
I guess my tastes are different.

I’ve played four different R&M, and as with all pinballs, they all played different. Setup makes a ton of difference on R&M. I smoothed out the garage shot and right orbit return on mine. It plays great. Most of the other ones I’ve played are petty clunky. It’s a shame that the game doesn’t get a fair shake because of the duds sometimes found on location.

Quoted from iceman44:

Played it last night finally, on location.
It played like a “dud” just like Everett noted above.
I wouldn’t buy one but I’d like to play one set up properly

Definitely sucks to see, but everyone one I've played on location has played like crap. Some were absolutely terrible. The worst I found was one with the upper flipper not functioning. That makes the game 100% unplayable. I would never route a spooky game. Definitely don't seem to hold up like Sterns that get engineered to a much higher level. If you're ever in Wichita KS, stop by and flip mine.

Eventually I'd like to compare how yours plays to mine. Time flies since we last spoke, still need to get together in general one of these days

Hit me up. I’m in my busiest time of year, so won’t be able to hang out until after 4/18, but always happy to do a little house hoping and meet the local pinheads!
