Anyone else getting pm from this guy trying to prove his point but all he has is links to online bloggers and tabloids trying to get ad revenue with bullshit articles?

Yeah, he sent me the same PM that you guys got with a bunch of bullshit links and some crap about having to take his word for it. Trolling to a new level. Wanted me to "spread the word" as well.

#352 4 years ago
Quoted from Azmodeus:

I am a player not a buyer. That is the Bottom line truth. I look forward to playing spooky for a long time to come. Decades.
But I will be watching others buy and playing thier games. I'm quite happy in this role.

Not a damn thing wrong with that.

#353 4 years ago

1. Felt rushed to buy it
2. No video game play
3. Price is way to high for what get

#354 4 years ago
Quoted from Skyemont:

No video game play

That's one of the reasons I did buy one. I way prefer pinball over video game play.

Plus it's like the old days now, where we are not dependant on pinside's scrutiny or approval.

I ordered it because I know with Spooky it will be well built, it looks cool, and implememtation of the theme alone will make it a gold mine on location.

I think he meant that there was no gameplay video released, just a short promo trailer.

Whatever he meant, I don't base my purchases on videos.

It will however be the first new game I have purchased without playing first. For the above mentioned reasons. And perhaps a little peer pressure.

By the time it does get here, I'm sure I will have had a chance to play one already.

He started off so nice, just a guy wanting to play some tournaments. Then the pedophilia posting took hold.

Exactly what I meant. If I like what I see, I will pick one up later. There will be plenty available by year end.

Totally respect how you made your decision, but not sure there will be plenty available by year end. I didn’t realize how much of a cult following R&M had and that’s not even the pinsiders. TNAs are hard to find on the secondary market. I suspect R&M will be too...but, I may be wrong. I’m not faulting you at all with why you waited.

I try so hard not to be a impulse buyer. With this one I felt like if you did not make your decision within 2 hours, your doomed. I don’t like pressure like that when spending 7500 and not even seeing a video of game play. I’m glad Spooky sold out. But this ones not for me.

I had two weeks to make my decision. From announcement to taking orders, next September will be awesome.

To be fair, all it took was watching 5 minutes of a Stranger Things video to know I would not just never like to own one, but also no desire to even look at one or play one, and especially not listen to it.

Don’t click on those links. I did and my laptop started playing spontaneous porn...pulled the power cord and it just kept playing porn...slammed down the screen and it immediately sprung back open with more porn...

I love the theme. For me, $7,500 is a big expenditure for a toy. I’ve also observed early enthusiasm for new titles and a frenzy to “invest” early only for the new pin to disappoint and not meet hyped expectations. This is true for Stern, JJP, Spooky, American etc. From personal experience, I paid a premium for a WOZ LE spot and had to wait a year to get it. WOZ is a beautiful machine but I did not enjoy it and preferred playing ACDC or Star Trek. Until you play a pin, you do not know if you like it. Inevitably, Rick & Morty pins will become available when some original purchasers tire of it or need to sell it to get the new latest and greatest pin. So I believe a wait and see approach is prudent.

When I bought family guy, I completely avoided all media surrounding it. When I opened the box, it was my first time seeing it

Quoted from bangerjay:

+1. Streams are nearly worthless to me. Watching someone play is always boring, no matter the game, and in no way gives you the feeling of actually playing the game.

#367 4 years ago

I just want to say a big thank you to the guys that did not jump on Rick and Morty for there said reasons. I thought the game would sell out in the 2 weeks to club members but I dont think any knew it would sell out in <4 hours. Without you guys "the non buyers" it would of made it even harder to place an order for this pin. So a big thanks!

On the real, There are plenty of pins out there and on the road ahead. Plenty of new titles coming out. Rick and Morty is not for everyone. Some very valid reasons posted in this thread. IF i was not 110% happy i would not of purchased it.

Same here with Tron LE! I was not disappointed! Made a profit when it came time to sell, too!

A show about the 80s isn't really my cup of tea.

But it was watching the stream of the pinball machine that was it's deathblow for me.

It's almost like they are recycling sounds from prior machines, and not sounds I want to hear over and over again. And the rest of the thing really did nothing for me.

Probably are, early code. Lonnie loves to copy and paste the code from his last game and then modify over time. Doesn't leave a positive initial impression though.

As far as "picking up a R&M next fall" I'm calling it now - $10K by xmas!

That's one heck of a way to make one game stand out from another. lol.

Seems back when Williams was in the game, although some had similar rules, each had it's own sounds for anything from soundtrack, to pop bumpers, to basic scoring that was unique to each game's personality.

Well I'm sure that they will introduce new sounds with each code release so eventually the game will have it's own character. Probably.

A wise man once said you can't polish a turd. Or more appropriate to this situation even if you polish a turd, it is still a turd.

Perhaps they will be able to use some of the discarded sound bytes from this turd in the next turd.

Because the writers of the show have been shown to trend to the pedo side of life. Look it up.

No idea how my comment could make anyone upset, saying nothing negative or inflammatory. I have now removed it.

Obnoxious voices, don’t like art. Gameplay looks boring.

Quoted from bangerjay:

I make my purchases based on play. Haven’t played a R&M so that’s the quick answer.

Every one of my machines I had played before I bought. Even my Family Guy, and I picked it over Stern POTC and original Stern Spider-Man at the time... it was NOB after the 2007 Chicago expo Flipin’ out tournament that year (I had the choice of one out of nine brand new Sterns used in the tournament) and what sold me on FG over SM was the heavy metal soundtrack of SM just put me off, the POTC was not deep enough, and FG farted, puked, and said rude things that I enjoyed from the series. If you really want the best show in pinball gross-ery, start ipEcac Pie Eating Contest and stack it with Stewie pinball or Fart multiball.

“Somebody hold my ears...”
“I don’t wanna- I don’t wanna-“
“Dad, I’m scared!!!”
“Louis, get in here!!”
“Who wants chowder?”

Now, will I eventually look for a R&M after playing one? Time can only tell, but we love the show- let my wife fall for game-play and it will end up in the collection. She green lit our MBrLE purchase when I was only looking for a classic edition, so anything can happen.

Don't care for the cartoon. Moronic humor.

I was just rereading this, my most-replied thread ever (BFD!), and had some comments, owing to having the benefit of three years of hindsight...

Quoted from jawjaw:

I prefer to wait until the hype reaches it's absolute peak and buy one at the scalper inflated price. Once hype settles down I will dump it for a huge loss. Isn't that what you are supposed to do?

This aged well. You can "dump it" for a 60+% profit these days!

Quoted from LTG:

I do believe Charlie and Spooky really knocked this one out of the park. People are going to be happy they got one.

LTG : )

Lloyd, meanwhile, nailed it! (of course)

Quoted from cpr9999:

I will buy one a year later loaded with mods for $1000 off of list!

Hardly.

Quoted from phil-lee:

Didn't see 7000 dollars worth of fun. Didn't see a machine that will increase in value.

Just goes to show how wrong one's perceptions can be.

Quoted from Fytr:

As far as "picking up a R&M next fall" I'm calling it now - $10K by xmas!

LOL Remember when "$10k by Xmas" was a thing? Now that joke applies to toppers (but sadly not EMs).

Interestingly, the guy who got banned (twice?) from the thread for posting outrageous accusations may have been on to something. It seems maybe Roiland's legal woes were just the last straw for Adult Swim. Extremely bad taste humor is one thing... But I sure dislike actual charges being tried in the media as sordid clickbait. Dunno how all that will play out for the show, but I doubt it will diminish the popularity of the game appreciably, as it's just too much fun!

(Have Trudeau's games dropped in price at all? Or, maybe I should say, not increased in pace the rest of the pack? I'm really asking, I haven't tried analyzing their price trends. Then again, Trudeau just designed the playfields, you don't hear the guy while playing, for example...)

#392 1 year ago

Didn't buy because I was talked out of it by an owner. They said the shots were "clunky"

#393 1 year ago
Quoted from DanQverymuch:

Trudeau's games dropped in price at all?

We have been having some discussion of BOP and the ilk that sticks to stuff in the R&M owners thread…

Hated it.

I guess my tastes are different.

I’ve played four different R&M, and as with all pinballs, they all played different. Setup makes a ton of difference on R&M. I smoothed out the garage shot and right orbit return on mine. It plays great. Most of the other ones I’ve played are petty clunky. It’s a shame that the game doesn’t get a fair shake because of the duds sometimes found on location.

#397 1 year ago

Played it last night finally, on location.

It played like a “dud” just like Everett noted above.

I wouldn’t buy one but I’d like to play one set up properly

#398 1 year ago

I have a friend selling one, he's never been able to get it dialed in and I think has basically given up. It's not Scott's fault, the manufacturing process just didn't have enough consistency.

All games can have clunky issues that need tweaking, but Stern isn't bending ball guides by hand.

Hopefully Scooby-Doo is being done in a large enough amount to get all the tooling right. I know they said they're injection molding parts, so that's a good sign of using 'real' manufacturing.

Definitely sucks to see, but everyone one I've played on location has played like crap. Some were absolutely terrible. The worst I found was one with the upper flipper not functioning. That makes the game 100% unplayable. I would never route a spooky game. Definitely don't seem to hold up like Sterns that get engineered to a much higher level. If you're ever in Wichita KS, stop by and flip mine.
