Ok am I the only one? Let me start by saying I have 26 pins already. And about 14 need shopped and some work. But every time I go drop off games or pick up something if I see a pin there it’s like a must have. Am I the only one that does this? And to make matters worse. I can’t stop it. Yes most are really good deals. Or close to being a good deal. Think I need Pinball anonymous or something.

It’s about 3:45 AM when you made the post. Are you shopping for another pinball machine?
I’m up to 64. Keep telling myself I’m gonna stop buying, but something good keeps coming out.

If you have the discretionary income and the space, I say "go for it."
I have run out of both, so that is the only thing stopping me

    #5 1 year ago

Maybe try selling some instead of hoarding too many projects!
You’ll burn yourself out buying projects that you’ll never get to.
Plenty of others could work on them.
I trimmed down any others I didn’t need and regrouped to my main focus.

Also it would save you from parting out so many games needlessly as many of them could have easily been saved by people with more space and less projects.

I have only parted out a slugfest. And the sad thing is I still have almost all the parts here. Just don’t have the time to ship them. Or maybe I will find a good cabinet. But you are correct. I honestly can’t stop buying. And I just don’t understand why.

You get a high when you buy them, thrill of the hunt

We all have that problem that’s why we call each other pinheads

I get called crazy by other pinheads, because I find a deal and will drive hundreds of miles many times without sleep, got one off ebay Weds night, picked it up Thurs afternoon , short 300 mile trip...

I'm not going to let this virus get to me, I'll keep on the hunt, stay positive

If the deal makes sense I'd just about go anywhere

I almost drove to TNT in PA last year , I didn't because one of the 3 I was buying fell through, worked out better as Fastenal is really reasonable when shipping 2 pins especially

Oh yes 2 pins shipped at the same time is a smart move and heck you save a lot money.

Nah!! Pinball is a great hobby besides we are all stuck at home what else is there to do?

    #16 1 year ago

I limited my purchases to one per year.
So I don't accidentially drain my savings just for the sake of amusement.
Anyways i'll spend most of the year modding the machines to death so I guess money always finds a way

    #17 1 year ago

I have the same problem, between pinball and arcade machines I have around 70. Basement is full, garage is full cars are parked in the driveway. I have a jurassic park premium on order, starting to bring games upstairs in the bedrooms. The games I sold in the past I regret selling, I just want more games lol and the funny thing some of the games I have maybe get turned on once or twice a year.

Well keep this in mind. Most of my games are in storage. Only have 2 at the house Metallica and theatre. But only theatre is set up to play.

26? And yet your collection list only shows one. Are they moving in and out that fast that you can't keep it updated?

This would also make my skin crawl. Unless I owned a location and needed to have all these games, I would only have the amount of games I could fit and have setup in my game room working.

I’ll just go ahead and say it.....You’re all addicted and crazy. Learn to say no like me. only have a very reasonable 12-14 at any one time. Usually...lol

Well I have some on location. But most in storage. And yes I sell some. But mostly buy.

I updated my list of pins. I think I still have 3 more. Ugh

So I guess my question would be, what the end game? Do you plan to open a location? Put all these games on route? Make a badass game room at home?

Whichever one it is, I say keep working towards that while you’re getting all these games.

But if you’re just buying to buy, then I don’t know what to tell you. Haha. Stop. Haha

    #28 1 year ago

Well. I'm bored and all my machines are working (except one rifle stepper unit), and live close by. Same issues here, so if you need some help on a project or two let me know, I'll even pick it up.

My wife thinks I’m crazy for some of the road trips I’ve taken for pins. I think the trips are all part of the fun.

I guess I don't understand, I was able to easily stop at 3.

Buying pinballs made me feel like a kid at Christmas again. That’s a special feeling.

Yeah but this pin addiction is worse than crack! If you see one somewhere right away you want to find out who owns it?how much is it?ect.

    #33 1 year ago

You like to buy pinball machines. In my opinion you do not have a problem at all.

You have a form of mental illness. Not making fun of you, just making an observation. My wife is a psychologist and deals with several patients who have "hoarding" tendencies.

Most collectors are on this spectrum to one level or another. I should clarify "collector" vs. "enthusiast". A collector buys something and doesn't/rarely uses the item. An enthusiast buys an item to be used frequently. I know a hell of a lot of "collectors". Guys that have games on their backs in their garages or a few that are up but literally never played. I'm guilty of periods like that as well.

Hey man it says you have 57 pins
Stop lying your addicted just like all of us...Hahahaha!!

    #38 1 year ago

I was the same way on a slightly smaller scale, had 5-6 in my game room with 4-5 in my garage. I finally burned myself out with all the trips, burned fingers, naphtha fumes and carnuba wax dust. Sold all but one and will just slowly trade that one when time comes for the right machine. If you dive to much into this hobby you will get burned out. I wish I would have heeded the advice from others to slow down as I loved the feeling of a deal and fixing broken games.

    #39 1 year ago

Every year before Christmas, we made our kids go through their toys and donate some. I think that could apply here and I’m willing to be a recipient of this forum’s forced generosity!

I think he means 3 truckloads.

I must admit, I looked at the OP’s collection to see if I could “help” by taking one off his hands. (Am I the only one to stoop so low?) It’s probably a good thing he doesn’t have any EMs!

I just moved from Dearborn,Mi. I swear this is crazy,I just moved back down south and now I’m starting to see posts from pinsiders who were exactly where I used to live... haha!!

    #43 1 year ago

I have to admit, I think most of us are guilty of this. We can only play 1 game at a time, and generally the 'newest' games we get are the ones we concentrate on the most. It is an instinctual thing based on the chemicals released in our brains. Or...more known as Pokemon syndrome. Gotta catch them all!

For me, I enjoy playing them, I don't care about fixing them. If I have to I will, but I wouldn't say it is something I particularly enjoy. I do enjoy just turning them all on, turning on the mood lighting and just looking at the blinking lights....it's calming.

    #44 1 year ago

No you’re not the only one. I just sold to EM project games and the next day I find a deal and I'm trying to buy it. I just love a deal.

I have room for 9 comfortably in my game room. I currently own 21 pins. I have sold games but my issue is for the ones I still own I just like them. It’s hard to let something go you like.

I have saw 2 deals this week that were 5 hour drive away that I didn't message on with all that's going on. And one last night that I did that was 8 hour drive away as its a title I've always wanted.

So I'm with you, can’t seem to stop buying.

    #45 1 year ago

I started with the EM pin I remembered most from my childhood. It lead me to other EMs, then early solid states, which lead me to DMDs, ... you get the picture. Now I am out of space and new pins are much more expensive than EMs, so that has slowed me down a little - just a little

    #46 1 year ago

I picked one up yesterday and I'm looking for more...

    #48 1 year ago

And I’m guilt of this. I work on the side for a bunch of operators. So I guess that gives me an edge. But I just sold one! Hope I don’t go through withdrawals.
