it takes all types, but I'm wondering about ratios.
half the fun of owning pinballs is the discourse about pinball. Online community is easy to get into. Its just like any other online forum of people with similar interests.
It's like your favorite bar...
"You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
Hehe.
I'm a skilled pinball technician. When I was eight years old they asked us at school what we wanted to do when we grew up, and some kids said they wanted to be a policeman or a fireman. I thought that being a pinball repairman would be the best job in the world.
There are opportunities to help the hobby through this forum. With a little luck, my answer to someone's technical problem will be referenced by somebody years or even decades in the future, and they'll get their machine fixed because of my work here.
I run a retail store selling mostly pinballs.
(shrugs)
Pinball people are my people.
It's the best place to learn about cigars, the best tv series to watch, why people hate ev's and see pictures of my favorite childhood toys.
For the poll to mean anything it needs a lot more options and they should not be mutually exclusive choices either.
I'm here because I can't afford a pinball tech.
That is seriously how I ended up here. Like playing pinball but was doomed when it didn't work anymore.
There is a wealth of knowledge here and I can also learn from others mistakes.
I enjoy seeing machines that are dead and beat up brought back to life and restored to their glory.

Because its the best pinball hobby site on the internet, and I enjoy reading and posting about the hobby. Not super complicated.
I'm here because many decades ago my dad made my mom laugh while working as a waiter at a restaurant outside of Albuquerque. They later got married (and had sex, I assume) and poof, there I was.
Oh...wait.. you mean here, on Pinside. Got it. Sorry.
Quoted from LTG:To help pinball.
This, pretty much. I enjoy helping people when I can and promoting the hobby. I'm not verified here, or I'd probably cause a lot more trouble. I like it better this way.
My parents would tell me to my face that I was planned.
I think they were just a bunch of fornicators in the 1970s and here I am.
I was a stalker for a while before joining.
I joined to learn about strategies, now I'm here for the antics and the info on common issues on my games.
Why am I here, because this:

Because pinball has been a major part of my life from when I was a little kid to now a 45 year old man.... It's gotten me through SO MUCH. But, with the amount of hate on this site lately, I find myself here less and less.
I wish this was more like a pinball show, where we all can just have a drink or two and enjoy pinball for what it is...
Cheers everyone. Happy Friday.
Brian
Mainly fixing machines and the people in tolerable amounts. I don’t play or sell much anymore.
Because it makes me happy
Like to watch the (shit) show.
Started here as a noob and learned a lot.
Still ask questions now and then.
Made some friends here and like to see what they got goin on.
Mebbe snake a game or two from the homies mentioned above.
General connectedness to the pinball community and news.
Pinball Show info.
Quick looks at reviews and "values" of games I ain't played/seen before but have a shot at getting to get a flava.
Yer mom.
BTW: Uncle Pinball ain't podcasted in moooonths, but he be up for a TWIPY M'Fers!
To read all the goofy comments by the same people droning on about their own agenda or favorite company.
It's entertaining.
Good resource for buying and selling...of course.
Also, there are slivers of information on how to fix things and keep shit going. Sometimes I feel like I'm running an arcade with my small collection and this community has been helpful (at times). Oh and I can solder even though I've only been here 2 years
Back in my WoZ days zaphX and of course LTG just to name a few. Gracias!
To see if somebody can help me solve a problem or if I might help somebody solve theirs. And to find out about new parts like special LEDs or replacement parts including ones that might be customized or an improvement over the original. And to write groan-worthy bits for the Funny Captions thread.
Why am I here?
1) Loved pinball as a small kid in the mid 70's.
2) Love the hobby and love the machines.
3) Love to collect and tinker/repair said machines.
4) Added an additional social element to my life and meet fellow pinball folks.
........
5) Pricing? Getting severely out of hand. Wont stop buying, but switched to "low hanging fruit" for the time being.
