    Quoted from yzfguy:

Do we really care that much what the games look like when they are off? Look at WOZ and Hobbit. Why not paint over all our dmds so they look pretty while we aren't playing?

Well, maybe not everyone, but I do. I also love looking at old architecture and early ironwork. Years ago there was craftmanship and artistry in products that you just don't see today. Some audio products we make look pretty cool with the power off, not just a plain metal box.

Or, just buy an old classic pin and forget buying the newer ones.

The screw heads are not shiny enough! In all serious, you'd be surprised how bad the complaining can get in commercial audio. It's not enough that the box sound good and work correctly, but we had a wrong shade of black oxide screws on a top cover - and this is something you don't usually see because the box is mounted in a rack.

    Quoted from DNO:

All it would need is a small rechargeable battery pack, and they could have it as a setting or a switch to keep the Gi illuminated when off! But NO!!! The lazy bastards take our money and leave us with dark games when the power is off!
    It's like $2 in parts! C'mon Stern!

That's a lot more than $2 in parts to run GI on batteries.

All games have 2 modes ON or OFF. What you are asking for is a third mode that no pinballs have ever had - A STANDBY. Similar to your modern TVs, Blu-Ray player, etc... where when the power is off it isn't really off, but illuminates a standby LED. Future games could be built where when the power is turned off, the GI just stays illuminated.

I think it's kind of silly, myself.

So do I, it was a joke.

OK, I see. Sometimes jokes are not clear in text.

    As you were...
