    Quoted from CrazyLevi:

    Goddammit, NOBODY CARES ABOUT THIS.

I care, that speaker panel and LCD layout is ass. It's 2017 and I expect a little more fit and finish then you would get it 1970. Anyone that knows anything about modern aesthetics or industrial design in consumer products will look at that and laugh. If you love it all the power to you, but some of us are tired of the blatant fanboyism saying it is amazing.

All they need is some decals to make them look like two Marshall amp cabinets.....they are not that far off.

That's what they are supposed to look like, Amplifiers. I think they look fine to me and yes I might make a Marshall logo and stick it on there if I had the game but still I don't think it looks bad or anything.

In my best Donald Trump voice - WRONG! You don't care about this, but some people do. Now go take a nap on the freeway.

. Maybe not on location, but when you have a line up at home, you want your $8000 toy to look as sweet as possible.

Then turn it on. This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen complained about on pinside lol.

The Houdini backbox with its speaker panel and LCD integration easily looks the most elegant of all of the manufacturers, IMO.

    Quoted from Chitownpinball:

Thats pretty much my market at this point. They priced me out. Id sell them all for a really cool SW pin though, but I dont think any one but JJP could pull that off.

Then why the F*&k do you care??

    #109 3 years ago

the never ending quest to cram stuff onto every square inch of a pinball machine. Sometimes less is more.

I like the screen for sure but can't stand those curvy sides. Too much like a Premier.

Give me an 80s Bally or 90s B/W backbox anyday.

    Yes. Yes we do.
There was just a guy in the Alien thread complaining about the black boxness of the cab. People care. Maybe not on location, but when you have a line up at home, you want your $8000 toy to look as sweet as possible.

Yeppers to this, i rather do a custom thing that looks nice then leave it just as a blank space.

You could just turn it on. It's like complaining that the playfield is too dark when the game is off.

It's the cheap-assed plastic flipper buttons that really piss me off...

All it would need is a small rechargeable battery pack, and they could have it as a setting or a switch to keep the Gi illuminated when off! But NO!!! The lazy bastards take our money and leave us with dark games when the power is off!
    It's like $2 in parts! C'mon Stern!

    #119 3 years ago

Yep, that's exactly what I would do, looks killer.

That's a lot more than $2 in parts to run GI on batteries.

All games have 2 modes ON or OFF. What you are asking for is a third mode that no pinballs have ever had - A STANDBY. Similar to your modern TVs, Blu-Ray player, etc... where when the power is off it isn't really off, but illuminates a standby LED. Future games could be built where when the power is turned off, the GI just stays illuminated.

I think it's kind of silly, myself.

    #121 3 years ago

Why would anyone want the GI to stay illuminated when off?

Don't LED lights dim over time/use?

So do I, it was a joke.

Why aren't we bitching about the half ass translite on AS?

Oh yeah, it's a gorgeous kick ass real glass thing of beauty!

That's actually one of the things I really like about it as compared the others. I realize that most of the traditionalists will hate it, but the pinball backbox is long overdue for an overhauled redesign and this is step in the right direction, IMO.

The speaker panel isnt bad at all and I'm the type that will nick pick details as I find attention to detail extremely important. But they do what they need to do and look pretty sleek and understated which is perfect I don't want my attention drawn to my speaker panel

Besides i think there is enough room and freedom with the design for people to mod the area as they see fit. There is certainly plenty that can be done with a little creativity something I think most current mods lack.
