Dio had the coolest voice. Halford had the best range. Geoff Tate is probably the best trained. Michael Kiske had the power.

Guys, go on YouTube and listen to Keeper of the seven Keys part 1 by Helloween and tell me Michael Kiske isn't a beast. He isn't as popular as the others but WOW.
Quoted from vid1900:Honorable mention #1:
Glen Danzig - Powerful singer mixing Metal, Blues and even a little Elvis & Jim Morrison.
Danzig - Long Way Back From Hell

Just think Vid, Danzig started in punk. Is there anyone else in the history of punk with a voice even close to as good as his?
We also forgot James Labrie from Dream Theater. I've seen them a few times, the most impressive musicianship I've ever witnessed and Labrie never hit a bad note. Great live singer, great live band.
Quoted from stuckey_t:Ronnie James Dio was a midget so hard to say he was the greatest Metal singer of all time. Somewhere there should be a category for the ability to land chicks if you wanna be the greatest! Metal gods landed chicks! Since Rob Halford is number 2 no reason Sebastian shouldn't be on this list.

Axl Rose should be on this list too, CHRIST
Did you just say Rob Halford landed chicks?
Quoted from Chisox:Please explain because I think he’s both.
I love Patton, always have. He can do really cool creative things with his voice, but he never demonstrated a power or tone like Geoff Tate or Dio. He is one of my favorite musicians so no disrespect and this is all largely subjective so what the hell do I know.
Quoted from DanQverymuch:Who won the category's first Grammy?
So the answer must be Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson. Q.E.D.
Hey man, they are great musicians! Not metal, but prog rock and have been kicking ass for 50 years!
