What would yinz recommend for air filtration to keep dust down in an unfinished total basement arcade?

On the internet there is literally thousands of types and brands, which makes your head spin in circles.

Its 32 x 30 space with 8 foot ceilings. No walls so I wont need duct work.

Simplest and easiest is a stand alone unit like the one below around $200-$250 for 800 square feet:

    https://www.amazon.com/Colzer-Purifier-Filter-Spaces-Perfect/dp/B0897L9Y24/ref=sr_1_10

Watch the ongoing cost of filter replacement ($50 recommended to replace twice a year). The pre-filter net should be washable but these are recommended to be replaced as well about once a year.

We bought one with a built in Ozone generator to help removed the odor from the basement kitchenette refrigerator when the power went off and deer meat rotted. set in up in front of the fridge door, along with activated charcoal on the shelves. Did the trick. After that we leave it running in the basement for the dust and that clean outdoor smell. Too much Ozone is a pollutant, so watch the sizing of your unit if you do this.

Was looking for something more commercial.

These are close to 2 grand but look awsome:

We've had the IQAir HealthPro Plus for about four years now. I have major allergies and this has made a very big difference for me, in the rooms it covers. It was closer to $1000 when we bought it. It has three different filters in the unit, each with different useful lives, depending on how much you run it, what speed, air quality etc. The carbon and HEPA filters aren't cheap but last 2+ years depending on usage. We run through one pre filter a year at about $100 a pop.

Awsome product. The lack of local support scares me a little.....Where do you get your filters and service parts?

We bought our unit and continue to buy our filters here, but I'm sure there are US dealers as well if that's where your location is.

As for service parts I share your fear if/when the day comes, but so far so good and none needed. I know it won't be a forever purchase and the day will come where it needs some work but am hoping that is a long way in the future.

    djtkach,

I ended up going with two of your recommended units for my upstairs, and wow do they work awsome.

However to get the air changes for my 1000 sq ft basement, I would have needed to run it at speed 5 or 6 all the time which would have used 190watts on speed 5 and 222 watts on speed 6. That is too much.

I ended up building a commercial hospital grade HEPA filtration unit inside an air handler (topic for another thread). It uses 60watts on low, and will move a max 600CFM on high thru the filter media.

Glad that you landed on a solution and equally glad that you're enjoying the recommendation. I'd be very interested in seeing your build, whenever you have time to share. We're looking at some renos over the back part of the year, and those would open up the possibility of installing something more significant for that portion of the home.

    Here is the build thread.

Its 80% done. Controls like on/off switch, hour meter, 3 or 5 speed switch, and possible a wifi interface of some kind will be considered in the future. Also would like to try out some carbon pre filters or maybe a mix of carbon alumina filters.
