Getting a little concerned about future wear on the Gobble hole, so I found an old Mantis hole protector, in the parts stash, and decided to see if I could make it work. Did have to grind it down to about half the original thickness and trim to about 3/4 quarters of the original full circle to accommodate the routed lane above the hole. Also put down mylar on the routed lane, plus some down in the hole itself. A little silicone between the protector and hole, then let it sit up over night with a cue ball sitting on it for pressure. Now, no more worries.
All in all, pretty easy to do and thought this might help others with the same concern.
