Quoted from o-din:

Bells sound much better, believe me. And they are available from PBresource except for the 5 inch one.

The 3" and 5" are available now from Pinball Resource as complete assemblies:

http://www.pbresource.com/bells.html

However, 4" bells have been unavailable for quite a while. A person could use a 3" plated bell for one tone and a 3" black powder coated bell for a different tone in place of a 4" bell.

Naturally, you would need a Stern 50 volt coil to be installed in these bell assemblies.

2. I'm not seeing any info re: game adjustments in the WNBJM manual pdf available online via Stern. Is this available anywhere or did you just have to figure these out via the service menu display?
Thanks.

That is one of the major omissions I pointed out to Stern over a year ago along with a bunch of errors in the manual too.

Quoted from Electrocute:

There hasn’t been one for sale in awhile.

I’m thinking of letting my minty one go , sitting on crate , plastic protector set , watermelon shooter rod , very low plays , 0 playfield wear . I really don’t want to sell it but there’s a car I’m look at . I definitely love this game !

The 3 Whizbang games each sold for about $14,000 USD. Here's a link to the history I outlined in an old article about my home-grown project.

#511 3 years ago

I am open to sell my WNBJM home-grown Whizbang EM example, described in the article above. A Pinside donation will be made attendant to a sale. Message me for details. Thanks.

For anyone interested in purchasing this limited run, unique and fun machine.
One will be available soon as a good friend passed away and this is hopefully going to a good home and help out his family. No pics yet but feel free to offer expressions of interest via message on serious offers.

Hi guys, so just picked up a Whoa Nellie, and first off, just spent 2 hours trying to put the head on lol. Those boards that go underneath the head are pain in the ass lol. So I have two questions, I noticed the lower mini display is not turning on. I see their is a cable wire underneath Playfield, now where does that go? Does that wire go into the back box? Or does it connect under the Playfield?
Last question, how or does the Playfield lift? It seems locked.

#520 2 years ago

It is locked. The 2 latches you found for the lock bar.. you got a couple more for the playfield.
Take a peek inside the coin door.

I have no recall of PITA boards under the head.

Anybody looking for the crate for this machine. I prefer to use the legs so I have the crate that came with the machine. It is currently disassembled. PM me if interested.

This should go fast, but why not keep it. I’m sure any future buyer would want the original crate. Kind of lowers the value without it.

Agreed, I do plan to keep the game for a while, but your right. Really just curious to see how much people would offer for it.

If I was to ever buy this game no crate would stop the deal immediately

Just joined the club with a NIB being delivered next Thursday! I always liked this one and missed out when they were still being manufactured. I found a distro that had one and he made me a pretty good deal.

The playfield layout looks straightforward however it has a lot of risk/reward. It will catch out good players!

It will humble the best of players.
On the crate, machine manipulation is nearly impossible.

#532 2 years ago

I will be getting this on Thursday. I am sure it will need a code update. I read somewhere that I can't just update to the latest code if it is running one of the first versions. Is this correct or can I just update it without concern?

#533 2 years ago

Double check of STERN support page.
Such a good choice of game, looks great on or off and very addictive gameplay

Whoa Nellie has been a pain in my ass for a while now.

Upon power up, the lcd screen freezes at Stern Pinball, and the GI and everything else does nothing.

In the back box, the audio and eprom power supply LED’s do not illuminate (the two middle ones). I’m guessing it needs a whole new power supply.

Personally, for a boob themed machine, I highly prefer Elvira House of Horrors.

#535 2 years ago

What does STERN Support say about this?
A boob machine? I like it more as a unique theme. EHOH you just cant compare as this is a superb machine in itself

Quoted from prl867:

When did all this start? Random on a startup? Was it after a code update?
Consider reseating connectors? I have fixed a few that way.

It was intermittent at startup. Usually after restarting it a few times, it would be fine. I did inspect the connectors but didn’t unseat and reseat them.

Started a couple months ago. Only on most recent startup has it stayed dead.

So I received a NIB WNBJM last week and everything works great! Got the last melon shooter rod available. I was surprised that there was mylar between the pops but not around them, so I carefully cut some out of platters I had so as not to overlap the existing mylar. I did notice an odd thing, though. While going through the settings I saw many technician alerts for switches. Most of these switches are not listed in the manual as being used and the ones that had alerts that are were related to the credit and scoring reels. Can anyone pull up their tech alerts and see if these show up? I am guessing that the Spike system is expecting there to be more switches in use than there are in this game, that's why the alerts.

#540 2 years ago

Nevermind. I just saw that this is corrected in the latest software update.

1 week later
#541 2 years ago

OK, the tech alerts are back again. After I updated the code, I factory reset the machine and they were gone. They are for switches 46 through 103 along with switches 71 through 128 and I have to go into the diagnostics menu to see them meaning that they don't alert on their own. All except the lowest 4 are not even listed in the manual. This doesn't affect a thing as far as operation of the machine, but I have other Sterns and they don't do this. Stern support is non existent. Can any of you guys check your tech alerts and see if it's only me?

Nobody wants to help?

#543 2 years ago

To my knowledge those switches are not used, and you should ignore.
If it plays right, and scores/etc off of a switch, they are just extras not coded out.

#544 2 years ago

Thanks, it's what I thought.

Getting really close to joining the club! Only difference is that mine’s homegrown.

Just check your diagnostics for tech alerts and see if there are any. Someone else responded that they are not important, I agree, but I just want to see if others have them as well. I would be surprised if I am the only one that does.

Yeah, I got a bunch of 'em looks like. I never bothered to look before though. Game plays great.

Excellent, thanks. Another member said that they were never coded out. The Spike platform is made to handle a lot more playfield hardware than Nellie. Play on!

Some of my graphics scratched off the translite. Is it possible to get a replacement ? Also any ideas where to get the watermelon shooter ?
