Great News!!

I had an email conversation with Wade Krause about making Gottlieb King Pin Playfields and all we need is the commitment of 20 folks for this project to happen, well 19 now that I am getting one.

Why am I pushing for this? Mine has planking and Kickout Hole wear (most do).

If you are interested in one or more post on this thread and if you are seriously interested Wade would like to have a voluntary deposit from you once he announces that he will reproduce these which will help secure one or more for you as he is currently limited to making only 30 Playfields at a time.

I will post a thread on RGP as well as Pinside, so please only respond to one or the other online.

The price should be about what the others have been going for which is $700.00 and includes shipping. The timing for production would not be most likely until late 2016 sometime, 2017, but we must have commitments now to be put on the waiting list.

So What Say You??!!

Poll Added.

TIA,

Ken

Fantastic Jeff!

We are off and running!!

So with myself and one other guy from RGP we now have 17 left to go.

Keep those yes votes coming!

Moving right along...............

Just got another yes from a RGP member so 16 left to go!

I'll take one. Hoping to get Atlantis later on.

Awesome!

1/4 of the way there in less than a day so far so all is well. 15 left to go!

Thanks!

P.S. According to Wade Atlantis Playfields will most likely be started in March 2016 and hopefully available by mid year. Just not sure if folks who wanted more than one will be able to get more unless that 30 max produced number rises.

Good Morning Pinsiders!

Time to wake up, finish your pot of coffee, and say yes to a new Playfield!

I find it hard to believe only 3 Pinsiders including me so far have signed up for this when there are 44 owners on Pinside alone

Don't make me email each and everyone of you!

Hole kicker tip: King Pin tends to have much more wear in this area of the playfield than its AAB sibling Pin-Up because Gottlieb changed the hole kickers to use weaker coils on it. King Pin uses A-5723 which causes the ball to catapult out of the holes and crash down onto the playfield, causing those famous spots of naked wood. Pin-Up's schematic claims its hole kickers use the same coil, but in actuality they use A-1496, the same as the ball return coil. If you have a nice King Pin playfield with minimal wear around the kick holes—or if this campaign succeeds and you install one of Wade's reproductions—switching the coils to A-1496 should prevent this kind of playfield damage from occurring.

the problem with this is a repro pf is 600 buck and for most people they did not spend that on the whole machine. I think that most people would upgrade the pf if they knew this was a very popular game, like atlantis or K&Q that was very sought. king pin is a very good game IMO but doesn't rank in the to 10. another thing is most have a good pf with the exception of the upper kick out holes that you really can't see so most people are happy with the pf they have. there are a lot of pf's I would like to see redone like north star, majorettes, and 2001. I am sure if we posted a what pf would you like to have done we would have dozens of entrys. the problem you need at least 20 people to have it done and wade to want to do it and on top of that gottlieb LLC has to say ok too. and that's not a sure thing either.
for those with a nice king pin/ pin up with kick out hole wear here is what I used to fix it.

I could not remember were I got them from, but I know I sent them to quite a few people.
I wish more people would share stuff like that. it would save a lot of time

#12 8 years ago

That would have been nice to have on an old KP restore I did several years ago.

My sentiments exactly. I think the community would be better served with a different title in the que. But, if you can get 20 commitments, go for it!

#14 8 years ago

WOW REALLY

#15 8 years ago

Nice effort, I would like to see "Dodge City" but I know there wouldn't be much interest in that. It's a multi player game and most have been destroyed. Few left.

#16 8 years ago

That sucks. I don't see anything wrong with campaigning for something you'd like to see done. I don't even have a King Pin, but if it got close to 20 I'd be in hoping I could find a game to put it in. I enjoy that game. Bummer.

#17 8 years ago

Its the first week of January.. Everyone is either away or short of cash..
Would it be ok to respectfully suggest that perhaps pulling the project because you couldnt fill a ( fairly substantial) quota in 2 days at this time of year was a little short fused?

Yeah, I don't think I'll be needing a Dodge City playfield, but with the amount of play Frontiersman is getting lately I would probably pony up for a spare playfield for that.

But anyway good luck Ken!

Wow is right.

I don't see how a couple of people posting their honest view would derail the possibility of others wanting or needing a playfield. Do you think most people are that easily swayed from their own personal beliefs or needs? After all, you are the one that posted a pole with various answers that were other than: Yes, please, or No thank you. I was sincere in my wish that you would make it to 20. And I will leave it at that.

#20 8 years ago

I wasn't trying to persuade anyone from not buying it. I was just pointing out that getting a pf done is not an easy task. you were surprised that people were not jumping onboard. I tried to get 5 pf done and was only able to get K&Q done.
hoov was campaigning for the Backglass that was already done before and this would be a rerun so all the heavy lifting was done. plus the sing along is a bg that is really hard to find nice so most people need one and on top of that the pf was just done so those that put a new pf in there machine want a mint glass to go with it. that is why I think that hoov had such a easy time getting 20 people.
if I was you I would continue to lobby for it. getting 20 people doesn't happen overnight. I took me almost 2 months to get the 20 for K&Q

OK.

I'm back and campaigning again.

Everyone who already said they want one is still good to go, just need more folks to want to get this done.

So who else wants a new King Pin Playfield?

A word from Wade about King Pin:

"On King Pin, I have not had many requests for that but I do have a cad file (used for the CNC cutting) already drawn. I made a customized King Pin machine once and cut my own playfield for it."

This is great news as 1/2 the work has already been done so this is an incentive for Wade to push this through with a little bit more support from folks wanting these Playfields.

So what say you again?

I would very much like to have a new playfield for my King Pin. However, $700 seems like a lot for a relatively simple playfield. For comparison, the only Gottlieb playfield CPR presently has for sale is Joker Poker for $499 in bronze grade and $579 in silver grade.

#30 8 years ago

compare apples with apples.. gold was 599+ 59 for shipping to usa.. an extra $41 for a niche bulk run by a specialist compared to a bulk operation like cpr seems perfectly acceptable?

CPR does good work but wade does works of art. the colors are spot on and well worth the 700 they were a steal at 600

If and when you guys redo your King pins, I'd be interested in a used drop target if someone splurged on a new set from PBR.

I'd be in for one. It was my first pin.

Sky Jump is a done deal, Wade is gonna do it. Only question is when. Hope to have that playfield sometime next year. 2001 is another machine that I think he'll do soon.
That's how my tea leaves are reading, could be wrong.

You got a machine at Salvation Army? I have got to ask how much they asked for it!

Looks like I am officially out of the running for one of these as I sold my machine and do not plan to buy another any time soon so if someone wants to keep this thread going that is fine by me. I never cast a vote in the poll for one of these so the number that is there is not inflated.
