Or for the upper crust, a Louis Vuitton trunk used by Houdini:

Junk in the trunk

#55 9 years ago
Quoted from PPS:

The trunks are the original trunks from the original molds from the original supplier.
WMS owns the copyright on the trunks and we are the licensee, and if someone wants to pay to recreate something that we have the copyrights then they contact us to see if there is a reason to do so.
I'm not sure why I need yet another Trunk supplier, as the trunks are original, and as noted above, there are things you can do to improve what is out there. Different trunks would behave differently in the game.
Go do that with any gottlieb(tm) or stern or jjp part and see how far that goes ... how many years can we have the same debate with the same answer.
rick

Then at the very least I think it is up to you Rick to do the extra to the trunk so that it doesn't break in a month. Why should we do the extra that's needed to make the trunk more durable? We are already paying you, we shouldn't get a defective product.

Ohhh, poor PPS, running a business is hard for you is it?

Have a cup of concrete and harden up

You are always going to protect the licence, you should be doing this privately, not coming online and haveing a cry

I kind of like the replicas that are at the LA Metro Fillmore station in Pasadena. A pinball wouldn't hurt these. They are there to honor Harry Houdini.

Saw them yesterday when I was there.

Quoted from Romchik:

Same time ago I have been compelled to make the trunk by hand (I have a problem with the purchase of foreign goods and shipping them to Russia). Work still go on. My ultimate goal is the creation of trunk which would consist of five wooden parts, thirty-six metal parts, five hundred small nails, and covered with artificial leather. Fifteen of the thirty-six parts will be produced from molten metal. (These parts are not yet completed. Jewellers ask a high price, and it need to make a large batch.) I guess this trunk will be stronger than a trunk of plastic. The problem I have is that the production cost is very high. It is about $ 300 (This is what I spend to make a copy.)
Now I found out that I can not sell the extra copies, which I do not need. I'm sad.
But I will be the sole holder of the trunk with these little padlocks that will shudder at each stroke of the ball.

Your trunk is too dang awesome compared to any of that crap repro stuff PPS sells. Just sell it dude. You are in Russia. Offer it up on here or on ebay and tell them to bring it on. You're in Russia, you don't care.

I just want a trunk that doesn't fall apart after a couple hundred plays!!!

First world problems...

The wood one looks nice, but nails, even glued... I don't know, I see that one being a problem long term as well. Not to take anything away from the look, it would likely be the best looking one by far, but I think the original rubber idea is the best.

Someone needs to do this. We ALL do the same thing now, leave a shitty one on and have a backup that will get sold with the machine.

I've tried all the glue and foam, everything I have tried cracked. Metal vs plastic - there can be only one!

Maybe not 12 months, but you are certainly good for the rest of the year.

The PPS takedown of the rubber trunks is a prime example of why copyright lasts WAY too long.
