I don’t think anyone says wall art has to be flat, so whatever you have in mind I say go for it! Art is subjective with no right or wrong answers.

After giving it a good scrub the replaced playfield was actually in not bad condition but does have operator installed mylar on it that is coming apart. I opted for leaving the mylar alone as I have enough on my plate.

Were going to skip ahead a few days- The playfield came with the back plastic, the two plastics on the top left and the slingshots. For the rest I scanned in the plastics from LAH, did some Photoshop work to fill in various voids (note the top right) and cut out some scrap plexiglass and Lexan I had kicking around. The popper bases are from my recycle pile and attached to a piece of plywood under the playfield. The playfield is not modified in anyway so in the future it actually could be used in a machine. It needs some re-lettering on a few inserts but otherwise very usable.

No apron? Just make one. The triangle pieces and center Data East were actually taken with my camera and cleaned up and modified in Photoshop before being laminated and sprayglued to the apron.

Next on the list? Lighting! As a proof of concept I took a set of Christmas lights and installed them to see how it looks but I have something a bit more dynamic planned when the package arrives this week.

Too fill out the playfield a bit more Bally drop targets from Night Rider were pressed into service. I'm going to make "crane" decals for the left hand side.

Very neat idea! How do the Milano’s play into this wall art?

It almost looks like a pinball machine. It would be cool if a few things moved, like the flippers. They wouldn’t need to move too fast. Just move slowly so you can see them move. Nice work.

Thought about it, be cool to have the crane move back and forth. Some other time perhaps, need to wrap this one up and get some remodeling done around the house till the next pin shows up =)

Next "art project" will be Flash Gordon if I manage to snag a new playfield from CPR.

I think my work here is done! Just need to add some spacer blocks on the rear for safety.

Very nice work! Looks great. Now I want something like it for my wall.

In the first few posts I was thinking no way is this going to be good. But, it actually looks very nice. Good show!

Thanks! It was fun to do. I had a few ideas about ramps and wireforms but decided to stop here for packaging reasons and didn't wish to block more of the artwork.

Great work, I love how it jumps out at you. Now i have to finish mine so i can hang it in my game room. Half the fun is figuring out how to make it "pop". I am trying RGBIC LED lights underneath mine. Fingers crossed maybe it will looks half as good as yours.

Thank you for the kind words! I'm looking to do another in the future. I have a Mr. And Mrs. Pacman playfield with plastics and apron I could do but was thinking of doing Alien Star next.

Just an update: Picked up some scrap ramps from JodyG from Ramp-O-Matic and was able to fill out the playfield a bit more and added some old pinballs to the captured ball locations. Jody is the man! Just have to find or make some wireforms to complete the playfield.

For entertainment, made a left wireform out of coat hanger, soldered, painted and installed.

Cheap entertainment for the afternoon.
