it's more of pinheads being resistant to change and unable to associate video aspect of pinball and "real" pinball. Hence why many will rave about the Econo bally williams game AFM over RFM. Same thing happened with the hardcore EM guys when they were forced to have to deal with SS. They bitched and some still do about SS from then on, saying it wasn't real pinball. Same holds true for the p2k crowd. Hardcore pinheads, were worried that this was the end of old pinball as we knew it, and it was going to feel more video than pinball. P2k was a good earner on route. Regardless how you want to look at it. It was for everyone. Same is true with MM and TAF. Great earners and many are still on route. After b/w closed the doors, the mother board being hard to find. Many ops were scared for it to break and not being able to be fixed. If it wasn't board specific and b/w was still making games and parts for it, it would have continued to be a great success. Espeically when the designers really could dig their hands in and really use what p2k platform had to offer.

Ya... True..
IMO, RFM is better than AFM in almost all areas. I 'm sure that if I had both, regular people would gravitate toward RFM, and leave AFM behind....
I might slightly prefer AFM to RFM, but I'm a pinball nerd....
I can tell you, that every non pinhead, went right for RFM right away. Even next to TAF, TZ, LOTR, CV, TOTAN, BF and whatever else I had. That was the game everyone wanted to play. And that's what they were made for. For average joe schmo to throw money in it. RFM was the attention getter. That's why they did great on route everywhere.
Quoted from mechslave:Yeah, except they didn't. LOL Actually, SWEP1 did better than RFM in op rankings. South Park crushed both of them. The end.

looks like naked pinball to me
I'm now going to merge the current discussion with the thread topic.
The next time my girlfriends come over to play pins, I'm going to tell them that they probably shouldn't enjoy RFM so much because it was a failure. Even though they all ask "Can I play the cool one with the hologram aliens?!?"
Quoted from pinslut:It would be a better if it wasnt such a lame pin she was grabbing on to.
Comet is a crazy fun game. My mom has one; rather play it than something like TZ, personally.

everyone knows the ranking charts are a joke. Has nothing to do with money made by ops. They both were money makers. The system worked. No way you can contend that.
Quoted from Miguel351:Let's just change it to Mac vs. PC and get it over with, then.
LETS DRINK!!!!
She's into pinball, with such classics as Fire Action, Drakor, and Cavalero Negro. Love the crazy sounds from Taito machines. They just stuffed everything in there.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Was at P&N last night. Awesome spot. Will be back before I leave LA.
I love nothing more than opening my garage on a Saturday afternoon and playing pinball as the neighborhood folk walk by.
Quoted from PinballMolly:Thanks Chitown! Nice having you.
Wanted to make it by again, but that food poisoning kicked my ass pretty badly. I am still feeling dehydrated. Oh well, next time.
I can't help but think of that scene from Trekkies, when that dude talked about how their fest was picking up... "Last year, a girl came!".

Ah, I love Molentin. He was like the Gil Elvgren of pinball artists.

I miss my Magic City, one game I should have never sold.
Hey Molly...I stopped by P&N today with my girlfriend but missed u. We spoke with the manager of the building/recording studio, he is a nice guy. We have plans tonight so we can't make the tourney but may try to stop by tomorrow if we have time. You going to be around tomorrow?
