I tried this the other night.
I love cherrys and stouts but normally you can barely taste the cherries when they are added to dark beers.
this is easily the best cherry stout I’ve had.

If you can find it, try the Bruery's Bake Shop Cherry Pie Imperial Stout. It's not really MY bag, but I'll be damned if it isn't like drinking sweet cherry pie.

#2305 3 years ago

The Bruery has some of the best stouts!!! Those guys give you that punch you in the face flavor. Coconut macaroon is a killer one.

We only get a few of them here and wish we had access to more

16.4% ABV?! That beer is rockin. I can’t think of a beer that I’ve seen, barrel aged or otherwise, with an ABV that high. I’d imagine there has to be a bit of an alcohol burn.

Black Tuesday (Post 2007 https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/who-likes-beer/page/41#post-5302275) comes in at 19.4%
On the "otherwise" front Sam Adams Utopias is the highest abv beer I know of. Comes in at 28% (Post 2044 https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/who-likes-beer/page/41#post-5385704)

We get some nice doozies in Michigan. Perrin brewing No Rules 15%. New Holland 20th anniversary was 20% avg stout for me has to be over 12% to be good

Have you had the New Holland Dragon's Milk Triple Mash (Post 2269 https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/who-likes-beer/page/46#post-5733411)? Comes in at 17% and is one of the best Stouts I have had! A Pinsider is kind enough to get me a few bottles the past few years and ship them to me!

Would love to try the 20th Anniversary! Just love Bourbon Barreled and Old Ale Beers!

Not far from my house.
Love that place, didn't realize they started selling in cans

They've always done crowlers, but I was excited to be able to grab 16oz'rs now. I think they started in May.

Food is fantastic there also.

Have you been to Sapwood in Columbia? I was only there once, but beers were fantastic. Need to make another trip.

I can never get my hands on the triple mash. Just sells out too quick. some stores sell them for 12 per bottle which is bs. I won't pay that. I do love those reserves though. The newest one will age nicely. Picked up a case of it to age. The 20th anniversary was a huge rum punch to the d*ck!!! that sucker was strooooong. I might bust out a no rules tonight. That is one of my favorites.

No Rules and MALTED MILK BALL look VERY interesting!

If 12$ is too high for the Triple Mash then you want no part of the Bruery Beers. They're all pretty much 20$ and up per bottle straight from the Bruery! A lot of times I just wish I liked Coors Light

I'm not opposed to pay more for a bottle, but when stores are gouging I pass. I am part of a beer club at a grocery store and I get a 4 pack of the reserve for 16.99. most party stores around here will charge 20.99-24.99. that ain't cool in my book.

and yes malted milk ball is good. you can buy that one at stores but they stopped distributing no rules. brewery only now.

I hear ya! I always wanted a Goose Island BCBS RARE but I refuse to pay the markup price.

I think Publix has been offering the great B1G1F deals on better beers because of the Covid and lack of demand from restaurants and bars. This week Elysian 6 packs are B1G1F. It packs a punch, but is pretty darn good!

Yeah, but it is too f'n strong for having more than a couple. I'm liking their Cosmic Haze just fine which is 6%.

In Florida, the Publix Deli has popcorn machines. They make it fresh. Not so in North Carolina. They get the frozen shi*. I like my fresh Publix popcorn.

#2336 3 years ago

I haven’t been able to get into sours. Haven’t had to many that I’ve enjoyed. Recommend any?

Higher octane is the best way to go! Lol. You get used to it. I like the punch you in the face hoppyness and earthiness from the high octane ones

Don't waste your time , the vast majority of sours are horrible . Why spend time trying to enjoy a beer that sucks ? Yeah I know it's trending right now and a lot of people are pretending to enjoy crappy infected beer because that's what is hot right now but screw all that nonsense . If you can find a real Belgian Lambic , I suggest trying that . Otherwise forget about sours almost everything out there is complete garbage .

This is the truth. Sour Monkey is pretty damn good though...

#2339 3 years ago

I like beer and had way too much yesterday!! I’m at work today wondering if I need to apologize to anyone .

#2340 3 years ago

Meh. Id say sours have been on the decline for a year or so. Id start with a Gose thats fruited and see if you want something more. Also a light saison is good on hot days

Id also suggest sours aged in oak barrels. The oak adds to the tart.

#2341 3 years ago

now I have had fruited gose and they are meh. had to mix them with another fruit beer to make it taste good.

Tried a sour once by mistake ..... just awful - really not my thing at all
I do like the fruited beers

When you find a good sour, they are awesome. Had a good one from a brewery in York, PA this weekend.

A few that I have enjoyed recently..

It's very good BUT not sure I could do more then one. It taste like an Apple Pie if you were to dip it in Bourbon. At 16%.... that's another reason not to do too many!

For me .... I have a hard time finding something from The Bruery that I don't like. I am not a Sours drinker but a guy I know back East, his favorite sours are from the Bruery. They really seem to make some great stuff!

#2347 3 years ago

Haven’t had a bad stout yet from them. You’re lucky to have access to them
