Quoted from terrapinmark:

Chris, you are getting some great Michigan beers down there. I just picked up a CBS and will let it age a bit. I have some Black Note, KBS from 2014.
Cheers!

Those sound great Mark Going to be on the look out for the KBS.
I secured a few bottles of the CBS to sit on but the curiosity was too much for me so I only have two left to age. Will see how that goes

Black note is amazing this year. I'm picking up some CBS this coming week hopefully.

Damn , the place I usually get beer had some CBS but it was $35 a bottle . I typically don't like it when stuff like maple syrup is put into beer , so I didn't want to risk spending that much on a beer I wouldn't like . Is it overly sweet ? or are the flavours balanced nicely ? I prefer beers where the flavors from the malted barley are the centerpiece , not the adjuncts. I do like imperial stouts a lot (probably my favorite style of beer), and lately I prefer the imperial stouts that have not been aged in a bourbon barrel .

This past weekend was a beer shopping success

It is $22 down here. A couple spots sell for $27. Limit is one bottle per person thoug so had to work around that.
I was hesitant also for exactly the same reason you stated I don’t really like overly sweet beers but it was surprisingly well balanced and not too sweet.
Crossing the King’s Bridge tonight.

Thank you , it seems as though we have the same taste in beer so I'm thinking I should give it a try . (although I will look somewhere else for it , it seems as the place I saw it is about 30% too high with their pricing on that one )

I have a Twitter account just for the local muni liquor store. They tweeted out they had CBS. Got there 19 minutes later. Sold out. I bitched about it and the cashier said “we sold out in 15 minutes”. I did end up scoring a couple of other bottles later though for $20 each. Haven’t tried it yet, but if it’s anything close to Toppling Goliath’s (impossible to get) Mornin’ Delight, it will be MAGNIFICENT!

Avery tweak is another favorite of mine.
Its 17.5% abv so It's much better after you age it a few years.
I justify the insane cost of $250 per case of 24/12oz bottles due to the fact that bottle shops and bars sell it for $18-22 per bottle.

Was anyone else Lucky enough to get any Ballast Point High West victory at sea?
I was very impressed and the 4 pk of 12oz bottles was $18. Not bad for an excellent bourbon barrel porter.

That's ice tea not kool aid!
I'm also 46.
Gotta love the bachelor lifestyle !
There's never any debate about adding a machine to the collection or where it will be located in the house either.
Yeah!!!

Great semi local brewery. Olde Hickory
They try different things and when it works it works well and when they miss they really miss.
This along with a couple others they brew are really nicely done.

I went to a holiday beer dinner last night and was excited to try the The Lost Abbey Groel De Abbey holiday brown ale. It was a really good 8% brown ale. These guys were sitting at the table next to me. Best holiday sweaters ever!!!

Going to look in the crates and see what I want to pull and chill for the evening.
Hard choices but probably going to pick something I have doubles of or can easily replace.

Picked this one up at the total nuclear annihilation launch party last weekend at Alt Brew in Madison . All of their beers are gluten free , so this one is made with sorghum, rice and millet . An imperial brown ale , aged in bourbon barrel . I Had this from the tap at the brewery and enjoyed it very much , also likef the copper ale they had . Cool little brewery and with about 10 well mantained , great playing pinball machines deginently worth checking out if in the area .

More of a "meh" than a blah for me . It was ok , body seemed a bit light .Sprecher makes a better quad , but I can't seem to find it anymore (not even if I go right to the brewery )

The damien was pretty good , (evil that is)
It was black and hoppy , kind of like a black ipa but it also had flavors and the body of a stout . interesting for sure ,and at $6 a bottle I definently be having that again .

Lot of great choices on that list.
I have only had a few of them personally because of the way beer distribution is down here but would love to try some of those I have not.
Going with this Stout tonight although I have already had it and not really a huge fan of this years batch. I think the added Rye was a mistake to my taste buds but I need to close it out and move on.

Been awhile since I've been in the beer thread even though i drink the F out of it!

Most of my Belgian Westies are still "aging" in the fridge.

Have you been to the micro brewery in Blanco Wayward?

Real ale? Or is there another? I was at Jester King last weekend. Highly recommended

Well that car is super cool, looks like you could sleep comfortably in it. Awesome, thanks for posting!!

Thanks for the kind words.
I also get fresh wort from one of the craft brewery's in town, it's cheap, because it's not alcahol yet, therefore no taxes. $50nzd (bout 30usd) for 20L. It comes with yeast and vacuum packed hops, pitch yeast day 1, add hops day 5. Keg it day 10. It is super tastey. At the mo tap one is IPA and tap 2 is peach and passionfuit cider, backup keg 3 is nzAPA
