Quoted from bigvoice:

I love beer. The last one I tried is the Japanese beer called Asahi.

Asahi is pretty-good beer. It's the Japanese "Budweiser" as far as popularity goes over there.

I've spent some time in Japan on business and drank quite a bit of it. I've seen it here in the US too.

Here's something pretty-cool. While I was in Japan a couple years ago we went to see the Tokyo Giants baseball team play in the Tokyo Dome. The Japanese really love baseball.

One thing I really liked about the experience were the "Asahi Beer Girls". They have these really-cute girls walk up and down the aisles with kegs on their backs. The girls start out at the bottom of each section and bow to the audience. Then the walk up and down the aisles selling beers. Then the girls rotate to the next aisle so every 5-10 minutes or so you have a new girl walking up your aisle. All were super-cute. It's pretty-cool.

Here's one of the Asahi beer girls:

Hey, a beer thread! IPAs are a big deal here in Seattle but I've never gotten the taste for them, it's like licking an air freshener. I just go for whatever's cheapest, though, which is probably sacrilege but if I tried to get drunk on the fancy stuff I'd have to empty my wallet. Either way, I've got the beer belly to show for it. (I upgraded - from a six pack to a keg!)

Anyone here been to the real Oktoberfest? Those beer tents look insane.

#1061 7 years ago

There can be only one and for me that is Dragon's Milk. It is $16 for a 4 pack, 11 percent ABV and delicious.

Imperial milk stout I assume?

It's a beer weekend for me. I'm hitting up a beer festival here in about an hour.

Then tomorrow, I'm kegging a Pliny the Elder clone that I brewed last month, and setting up the taps on my dual-kegerator system (I'll post some pics tomorrow, if I remember). Beers on tap will be the Pliny clone, a Three Floyds Zombie Dust clone, and a hefeweizen.

Racer 5 is available in Ohio again. Rejoice!

Nice choices! Breaking in DH?

I'm currently NOT enjoying some fruit flavored crap from bud. Wife thought it was a cooler and pawned it off in me

Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga' Substitute Ale, I have ignored this beer forever thinking it contained brown sugar. Ha! It does not. Very smooth for 8%. Down 2 or 3 of these and you are GTG.....

My dumpy ass Circle K that doesn't even have a beer cave now has Lagunitas. I had to buy it. 2 for $4. Really not a bad price. The cans are YUGE!

That Waldo's Special Ale is my favorite beer ever...turned me into a double IPA fan forever. I have 4 left and its time to stop hoarding them so in the fridge they go for the holiday weekend.

Also Little Sumpin Extra tastes like a 'little Waldos' to me, very similar flavor profile but not as intense. Great substitute till next April.

#1089 6 years ago

And now I have 3 left

Call me cliche but here I am enjoying my first Pumpkinhead of the season. Followed by 5 more.

I'm a sucker for cinnamon sugar rims.

I'm partial to the sour beers like Rodenbach grand cru and unsweetened Lambics by Cantillion. I also like a good wheat doppelbock like Aventinus. I worked in the Beverage industry for quite a while. Beer has always been a big part of my life and I can't say no to good cask conditioned English real ale.

#1096 6 years ago

I wasn't the biggest fan of this the first time I tried it, but today it tastes like a different beer and I am liking it a lot.
