Quoted from zr11990:I love amusement parks and I love roller coasters. Im still butthurt that they shut down Astroworld. The greedy bastards thought they were going to get billions for the property and no one wants it because its in the hood. Now it is a vacant lot. One would think that a city like Houston would have a Amusement Park but we cant have one because the hood rats destroy everything. They had to start shutting Astroworld down at dark because the gangbangers caused too much trouble.
I practically grew up at Astroworld, and last visited with my wife about a week before they closed permanently. It was very sad to see the employees stoically picking up trash and greeting visitors with smiles, knowing the proverbial Titanic was sinking in a matter of days. It is a HUGE travesty that the third largest city in the country cannot support a proper amusement park. It was the best theme park in the state at one time, and it sucks to drive by on 610 and see the silhouette of the great Texas Cyclone replaced by a giant slab of wasteland (which is no doubt knee-deep in used needles and other hood-rat/tweaker flotsam at this point). Greedy bastards indeed, karma is a bitch!
