Wow. Join the member area and access his instructional golf "vidios"

Ripping off niche content producers like Randy and Clay is bad enough, but if this guy is also repackaging mainstream PGA/LPGA (or other professionally produced) training videos without permission, he either gained nothing of value from his "legal education" (from an unaccredited law school that I would be embarrassed to have anywhere near my resume), has a cognitive or psychological mental problem (or both), or is involved in some bizarre form of "live action role playing."

Can't wait till he starts a home video business streaming movies that are still in the theater... the MPAA will not mess around with that one.

Here's hoping a local Pinsider signs up for his private golf lessons and asks about his other interests while they are on the links... I bet the stories would get even better after some time at the 19th hole.

This is such a blatant rip off of material I wonder if the guy is being framed. It's hard to believe he could really be that stupid.

It looked like that to me as well. I'm thinking the PGA might not like that too much either. I wonder where the copyright infringement link is for the PGA?

Although if you sign up, the videos are just YouTube links. You don't have to pay to join, so I'm wondering if it is illegal?

Either way, this guy is a real piece of work, stealing everyone's IP. He's only about 15 minutes down the road from me.....

Sometimes there are some weird things that happen on the internet. If you want to build a web site for a business, I don't see any problem looking at others in the same niche and getting inspiration and ideas from them. But just plain copying the exact material verbatim doesn't seem right. Its laziness more than anything else on the part of some web programmer. You can see this sometimes withing some marketing niches, or segments. I first noticed this when I was asked to build a web site for a company in another industry segment that I won't mention here. I saw the same thing - lots of web pages with identical content repeated over and over. Sometimes it is paragraphs, or even entire pages of material.

You can Google search on some of the text blurbs on his web site. Such as this, with quotes:

"Personal attention, quality instruction, and a time honored curriculum are things that have made our school a success"

You will find it in a whole bunch of different golf instruction sites with the exact same line word for word. Some seem completely legitimate. Lazy work.

But you are missing the key component how he is making money off of Randy and Clays (and others) hard work...

Not at all if you check my earlier posts. The part about taking their material is of course wrong I agree totally. I was just noting the way some things go on. But you are never allowed to steal someone's copyrighted material and make money from it period. Unfortunately I think lawyers may need to get involved in a case like this.

I was referring more to his golf site in my last post than the pinball one.

This is where people get it wrong... it is irrelevant whether you make money off of it.

    Quoted from KerryImming:

Yes true. You are never allowed to steal someone's copyrighted material, making money off it or not. But it's usually when someone is making money or taking money away that the copyright holder starts getting upset.

There is fair use but that's another whole area. It definitely does not apply here.

    Not surprised
Pinball has been filled with it since Ive been in this hobby

This is so attenion-whorish that it reminds me of banned users from the past who tend to show up after their name is said a few times.

If it is a frame job someone really spent some time doing it. I found his personal web page from his link on the Berkshire Hathaway home page. Bottom line is I think he really is this stupid. He also has a link to 3 books he "wrote" on there. I wonder how much of that content has been plagiarized.

Careful. He's a best selling adventure novelist.

On Amazon, it is their policy that an author be promoted to "best selling" if his book reaches a ranking of at least 4,290,130.

And as you can clearly see his book "The Redcoats are Coming" ranks above that. So the joke is on all of you.

Unless those books are based on his first hand accounts of his adventures to and from the buffet line I'm willing to bet there's not alot of original content in there.

    Quoted from KenLayton:

I just got off the phone with Randy Fromm. He didn't know his randyfromm.com website was down, but does now. He said he'd get that taken care of. Right now the site is down and all emails to him at that address are bouncing.
As to Wildcard Amusements, he's going to check it out. I did notice that when you check out some of the links at Wildcard, some of the pictures have been changed.

FYI, a little late, the website being down was just a UCANN issue. They didn't have a current email addy for me. Thanks, Ken, for letting me know.

As far as the remaining (offending) material on wildcards's website, it was just some stuff that remained on the server without links pointing to it. Removed now. Again, thanks, Ken.

Who's pictures are these? Clay's? Randy's? Or have they been swiped from right here at Pinside?

I would say you better screw down anything you don't want stolen but it looks like they have a screwdriver.

    #428 3 months ago

Yes, that whole section was taken from my web site along with other sections of his site. I tried calling the number listed, but there is no answer. I did send him an email though. We'll see what happens. I been around for almost 20 years and have a couple thousand happy customers and know quite a few lawyers who would escalate this for me if it came to that.

This guy appears to even be from your area?? Seriously?

Your local news needs to put a go getter reporter on this. A realtor/best selling adventure novelist/pinball repair specialist with a "yacht" who when you peel back the layers turns out to be a complete fraud?

That's good material right there. Worth an investigation for sure.

    #431 3 months ago

So, no one has ever even reached this guy and talked to him yet??
A real estate agent who wont return a call??
    I doubt it.

    #432 3 months ago

Profit shareing with themes taylored to my venue? Count me in!

Seriously, this has to be a joke by someone who knows whose chain they are pulling. You don't just wake up one day and randomly choose pinball as your hobby and peg a few targets who anyone in the hobby knows would be peeved if their stuff was infringed upon.

I'd love for someone to take him up on the "golf lessons" and keep asking for demonstrations of the various tactics he is teaching then report back (maybe with video taken for educational purposes).

Be nice to have him on record talking about other businesses interests too.

Bullshitters like this really amaze me... I mean what has to be going on in your head when you decide, in your 40s and 50s, that the way to be the successful person you want to be is to spin all these ridiculous tales (shouldn't you have already learned that does not work by second grade)?

Like the quote by people who track down fake soldiers/stolen valor claimants "There were about 500 SEALs that operated in Vietnam, and I’ve met all 20,000 of them!"

I'd be screaming bloody murder. He's completely ripped off your material and representing it as his own. Plus he's making money from your work.

I reported him through WIX and it looks like his site was shut down.

    #441 74 days ago

Most of the Wildcard Amusement FB reviews are gone. Hmm.

    #442 74 days ago

There *were* 14 reviews. I guess we need to add some more reviews.

    #443 74 days ago

Also need to expose the fact that they are deleting reviews.

    Quoted from Crash:

Well that's what I was wondering. Were they deleted by Wildcard or by the author? For example I saw Pindoctor did the most recent review but it's gone now. There was another one accusing Wildcard of cleaning playfields with Windex (I liked that one). That too is gone.

    #445 68 days ago

I didn't delete my review, but it certainly is gone now.

My review is gone.I'm pretty sure I made the windex comment.
