Quoted from pezpunk:Well, all I know is they are making around 5,000 cars per week now,
You "know" this how?
Quoted from MrBally:Is that 5000 an octal number by chance?
5000 is an actual number. It is the number that Musk promised to produce and has yet to actually do.
Slightly off topic, but I'm in on the semi truck. And a Predator. And an Alien. I'm paying for them all with Dinars.
Quoted from pinster68:I'm at a 60% return to date. Who gives a hoot about a miss as long as there's progress and confidence.
That's more to the point. The thing is, Musk has a history of over promising and under delivering with regard to the 3, yet so many put on the blinders. Per the Bloomberg article, he has lowered his promise times and still can't deliver.
Yesterday, he threw shade at the F series. To put it in perspective, Ford SOLD almost twice as many F series in 2017 as Tesla's famous "order backlog".
Quoted from toyotaboy:all in the name of cutting overhead so he can finally sell a 35k model3 and still make a small margin. its becoming a very competitve market in the EV space now, hes thinking ahead. he knows bigger companies are going to find ways to build a cheaper car.
...or not
"But Tesla has struggled for months to handle production, cost and delivery issues surrounding the Model 3, and Musk has said the company can’t sell the car at its long-promised price of $35,000 while remaining profitable. "
Dang. That's harsh.
Well deserved, but harsh.
"Analysts are starting to get a clue that Tesla’s stock has always been a sucker’s bet"
Looks like Elon lost the room and the cult of personality is kaput. Bummer, I was just starting to like the arrogant ass.
Quoted from SkillShot:It would take a lot for me to buy anything else
When do you plan to buy your next one?
Quoted from mcluvin:Even if Tesla fails as a profitable business, all the major manufacturers are now getting into electric. Would that be the case if Tesla didn't exist? I'm not so sure.
This guy agrees with that:
"Tesla completely transformed the automotive landscape when it introduced the Roadster, pioneering the mass-market electric car. It sold the first widely-available EV, and it did it with a product that you could easily live with every day. The company has done more to further the electric game than anyone else and deserves total credit for making EVs a part of the discussion when it comes to the future of the automobile. Tesla has changed the world. It’s also doomed."
Quoted from JoshPA:Probably. But so are cars sold by Ford not named Mustang, so is VW. Everything is changing.
But for me, I'll give my money to someone who is landing rockets on boats for now.
VW is fine. F150s are selling like hotcakes. Cars owners are buying SUVs. Landing rockets on boats is a science project and competes with NASA, not VW or Ford. If you read the article, the point is that mass production is different than chasing the next shiny thing. He is in trouble on the mass production front.
