Quoted from BrewersArcade:

Thank you guys for the info! Has anyone had good luck finding reasonably priced insurance? I've been a Geico member for 20 years with no accidents/points and buying a Tesla jacks up my rate quite a bit. I get it, new car but it's like an extra $500 every 6 months!

I was with AAA before, and they were going to Jack up my rate by $500 for 6 months. If you have another car on your policy, go Progressive with both. If the Tesla is your only car, check out Tesla's own insurance (not sure if they offer it outside of Cali though).

When it comes it insurance, best to call around. Takes little time to get a quote.

It’s ironic that they mention range anxiety in the ad because I would certainly have range anxiety if I had a Lexus right now.

There’s almost 2 million Lexus and Toyota’s included in a fuel pump recall that currently has no fix. A family member has already been left on the side of the road once, and the car is still acting up.

Quoted from Pinless:

I'm guessing that recall is going to expand. There's a well known issue with the last gen scion Xb having a dashboard of lights come up, then suddenly go away.. or sometimes the car just doesn't start. My wife's started doing that at 180k miles, went away, and we dumped it at a dealership before it came back.

Had a model S as a loaner for the past week. Not sure i can go back to my Ram. This thing is stupid fast and just awesome. How does the 3 stack up against the S? Other than size?

How does one go about getting a Model S as a loaner car?

#3161 4 years ago

My company loaned one to me for a week and part of a bonus. Id rather have the cash honestly. Bescause now I'm looking at spending 70k on a used X or S. Instead of a bonus its now costing me money.

#3162 4 years ago

Turo is a great way to try one out for a few days. We rented an X and had a lot of fun with it.

The owner showed us the Christmas show as we picked it up (not our video)

The 3 is SO fun to drive. I have an S (p100d) and my wife has the most basic 3 out. Hers is almost as fun to drive!!

Hope this isn’t a party foul but if anyone wants to use my code for 1000 miles of supercharging, I’d appreciate it if you don’t already have one.

No foul. I'm gonna buy one soon and I'll be sure to use this!

I’m really starting the think I love the Y based on the early videos. Can’t wait to see who is first to transport a pinball machine in one.

Agreed. Need to see Pin-friendly dimensions of the Y. That "may" sway me to ditch my 3 and a RAV4 I've kept just for pinhauling. A Y performance would be a great holdover until the Cybertruck gets released.

#3167 4 years ago

I am scheduled to pick up my Y on Saturday in Maryland. Cross your fingers it all goes smooth for me! I'll post pictures, etc. once it is in hand.

WE have 2 model 3s switched to Farmers Ins very good pricing $1,000 for 6mo. for both cars.

that's not horrible ($500 per car for 6 months). Is insurance dropping because service is getting better?

Please share cargo area dimensions and/or pinhauling pics when you can. I’ll upgrade my Model 3 (and ditch my current RAV 4 pinhauler) if pins fit in the Y.

#3171 4 years ago

I got the dimensions, and unfortunately it doesn’t look like a pin will fit completely with hatch closed on a Model Y.

The depth is plenty fine (about 75”), but the head does seem like it will clear the height. With most pins being about 29-30” height, folded. Maybe with the tailgate left open it’ll work. It’s a long shot, but maybe you could pull the two floor panels and rig temporary shallow flooring.

Interior measurements:
B = 70 cm or 27.6 inches
A = 54 cm or 21.3 inches

what's the height dead center of the opening ? , and then 14 inches each way , what is that height ?

Good point. It does arc a bit. I got this from a third party. There might be a chance a pin will JUST make it.

#3174 4 years ago

also is the floor boards removable , may be able to get something that is thinner , therefore gain a little more vertical space

Yes ... I mentioned that above. They are removable... just not sure if a substitute floor will be workable.

Guys, just rent a trailer or buy a cheap hauler. Tesla makes great vehicles....don’t let your purchase be dictated on whether it fits a pin or not. If you can afford to buy a Tesla, you can figure out other options. I have a model 3 and a pickup. I kept the pickup for hauling big items. Cheers.

#3178 4 years ago

Wait for the Cybertruck! It will haul a pin no problem!

ended up buying the 2020 model 3 long range for my wife and now I want one. Thing is stupid fast and I’m even thinking about paying the 2k fee for the software update to increase the 0-60 speed increase. Just not sure if I want to drop that much just for .7 seconds increase in acceleration..

If you don't, you'll always wonder....

Don’t do it. Because then when you buy yourself one, it will be a P. Careful.

I say do it! In the ice world, $2000 for .7 increase in acceleration is the deal of the century. No one ever complains that their car is too fast. Also, buy good summer tires when your existing all seasons are done. Good grippy tires make a huge difference. And yes, it’s very easy to spend someone else’s money......

Just an update. Got our Y back on March 23rd. Almost 5000 miles later and its been an awesome vehicle. Don't think it would fit a pin height wise but for a family of 5 (3 kids) it's got plenty of room and tons of power!

Congrats. Our Y is in cue awaiting the arrival. Had some fun running a 60 amp charging station to the garage to pass the time. Lol

With Tesla Stock shooting to the Moon and the stock splitting at the end of the month. I just may be able to afford the new Roadster when it finally comes out in 2022.

Well I had my first accident recently. Wasn’t a bad accident, no airbags or injuries but due to the nature of the accident my 3 was totaled. It was a corner - to -corner strike of a Prius (also totaled) which bent the front end of my 3.
I had ordered my 3 on the first day that Tesla allowed orders. It took over 2 years to get it. Unfortunately the Performance version hadn’t been invented yet, so I got a long range single motor model.
Fast forward to now: The day of the accident I put down a $100 non-refundable deposit on a Performance model 3 - hoping that mine would be totaled. That was 2 months ago.
Since I’ve been working from home I haven’t needed to rent a car. I’ve just been borrowing Wifey’s car when needed. I hate having to wait so long to get my car, but it really is something special, and I waited over 2 years for my first one, so I can deal with it.
Tesla says that they are building it tomorrow and should be delivering it to me the first week of September.
I can’t friggin wait!
Also, I’m an early investor in Tesla stock - got 150 shares at ridiculously low cost. I’ve really enjoyed watching it rise past $2000 and am anxiously awaiting the 5 for one split at the end of this week. I can’t imagine that the price will stay low for very long after the split.
It’s going to be a fantastic September!

Ouch. That sucks. Delivery has really sped up since then so hopefully a fast turn over for you. Get ours Monday (Y performance AWD full auto). Fun times.

Last month they were building for the European market. They resumed building for the US this month. I’m sure that they had lots of orders in front of mine!

#3197 3 years ago
Quoted from Davidus56:

Tesla is a pure momentum stock. There is no financial justification for its stock price. It is essentially bankrupt, but remains at lofty prices because of the hyperbole of its charismatic leader. Stocks like Tesla eventually track back to reality. When that happens it will be very painful for longs. The question for shorts is timing. If you short too soon, you will be bloodied just as much as the longs are when Tesla eventually falls off the cliff. I like EVs, but I'm not married to Tesla. After I sell mine, I will get something else. Perhaps a Jaguar or Bolt. I'm actually kind of embarrassed that I drive one as I see Tesla car and stock owners as a bunch of clueless snowflakes.

Lol

#3198 3 years ago

I'll second that LOL in big bold letters.

#3199 3 years ago

Late to the party, just noticed this thread. Got a Model 3 a year ago. Love it. Best car I've driven. I use to fix cars for a living, and drove a lot of high end cars. Nothing compares to a Tesla. Love it so much, I'll never go back to gas, going to sell off the rest of my gas cars and get a Cybertruck. Unreal how much Elon has changed the automobile game.

So basically your car is paid for about 5 times over... Nice. Congrats. I own 2 meager shares, wish it would be more, but now is not a good time to buy. A bit too much hype before the split. Defiantly don't see as dark as one of our fellow posters, but I believe the price will balance out around $300-$350 after the split.
