I have nothing but love for Gottlieb/Premier games!
I currently own a Big Hurt and a Gladiators (both never leaving) and am about to head out on an 1,100 mile journey to pick up a Robo War! YEAH!

Quoted from amkoepfer:I wasnt a fan of big hurt, but it went to a good home where he loves the game!
Oh boy, I sure do! There are some weeks where all I play is Big Hurt. I don't care about baseball in the slightest, but that game has the juice!!
I love trying for the skill shot every ball, love shooting for home runs, and the orbits are as fast and repeatable as any. The gameplay is as deep as you want it to be. Feeling on top of your game? Go for combos and repeated left orbits. Just want to bat a ball around? Go for runs and shots down the middle. As o-din says, it's an "end of the night" game.
Not to get back on comparing Gottlieb's to Williams/Bally games, but I used to have both a World Cup Soccer 94 and a Big Hurt. One of them is still here.
Quoted from MiamiRedSkin:If anyone is looking for a pretty nice gladiators in Chicago, I have one for sale for $1500. Talk about a deal for a DMD these days
That's a lot of entertainment for fifteen hundred dollars.
Sometimes the orange fits a particular game better than the red. I've got orange on the Gladiators but kept the red on Big Hurt. I think the red looks real sharp on Stargate and Rescue 911, but I like the orange better on Wipeout. Couldn't tell ya why!
Yeah, that white button is designed to shut the game off when you open the door. You can pull on it to turn the game back on.
The volume is controlled by a little potentiometer inside the cabinet on the left side, right by the "tournament mode" switch.
Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:This is going to sound so stupid but I'm not familiar with Gottlieb System 3 diagnostic menus (I have a WPC) How can a turn the volume up on a System 3 for example? When the coin door gets opened, the game shuts off! Do I hold that switch down?

The white thing sticking out of the right-side of that board is your volume knob. Crank it up and rock those Gottlieb tunes!

The lower white button is the one that'll turn your game off. Just yank on it to switch it back on, or do like I did, and bend the bracket it's mounted on so it clears the door entirely.
That works, too!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that high-pitched sound is a good thing; the sign of a functional sound board. Should be a dual-tone, a high and a higher.
My Gladiators doesn't do that anymore - its more of a gargle-beep - and the music is alllllll jacked up.
Quoted from DennisK:I've been considering trying to acquire something newer players might understand and enjoy, and saw some discussions of the street level pins. Slugger looked like (to me) the best of the set in terms of layout, but wasn't sure if any really shined on rules. Thanks for the assessment, it is helpful!
I've never played Slugger, but I'm really impressed with Car Hop. Nice layout with easy to understand rules.
