Beautiful pins
Quoted from Jappie:» YouTube video
Here's a video of my Night Moves cocktail pin I just put online for all you Premier/Gottlieb afficionados.
It's the last original System 80B-design that Premier ever built. They built it on contract for International Concepts, so it doesn't carry the Premier/Gottlieb branding. There's quite an interesting -but sad- story behind the game, of which Todd Tuckey speaks in his Youtube videos on the game.
It might not be a Premier/Gottlieb by name, but it's definitely one in every other aspect. Enjoy!
THIS is why I love Gottlieb. They made all sorts of fantastic, innovative pins. They did really weird stuff that nobody liked, and they weren't afraid! Even cocktail pins and those are nearly universally hated! (I love them) I think almost all of Premiers themes were great. Backglasses.... ugly as sin and I'd replace them with custom, proper art and sell the original to one of those collectors who loves the cheese. I love a lot of the games and the layouts but I think ones like Hard Body and Hot Shots have hideous artwork that I couldn't look at for long.
IF ANYONE ever has or comes across some really ugly, "parts machine/basket case" Gottlieb/Premier machine, I'M YOUR GUY! I would totally love even a terribly undesirable title to work on and add to the game room. I want a "weird game" collection! I'm already off to a good start with Baby Pac-Man, although I had to betray my love of Gottlieb for that one. I hope to add weird pins like Orbitor 1, Night Moves, Caribbean Cruise, Rotation VIII, Spectra IV, Mushroom World, and the likes to the mix within a year or two.
Hopefully one day I'll be renowned at "That one pinsider who's whole collection is novelty pins"
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:They did really weird stuff that nobody liked
I think I've mentioned it before, but my most played game in my collection by others is Lights Camera Action. It's universally praised by everyone who's not really big on pinball. It sits next to my White Water, and 9 times out of 10, people will play LCA over WH2O. I think it's because it spits out multiball awards like crazy, and really, all people want to do is have some sweet multiball action. They don't care about the rules. They don't care about how brutally unfair the game is, and they certainly don't care about the way those "thin" flipper feel. They just want to see some flashing lights and tons of balls moving around to make it feel like they're doing something special.
Unlike most William's games where you really have to work for your multiballs.
A friend of mine put it simply by saying "Man, you really get a lot of value for your quarter on this game!" --After his 3rd multiball. I think Gottlieb's have a pretty wide appeal when it comes to that, and I can respect that.
Quoted from mbaumle:They don't care about how brutally unfair the game is, and they certainly don't care about the way those "thin" flipper feel. They just want to see some flashing lights and tons of balls moving around to make it feel like they're doing something special.
That's beginning and the end of it! People like to feel like a pinball wizard and nothing does that like having a sweet multi-ball even if it drains and turns out your score is only 10k!
In today's world I think this is even more important honestly. I don't see lots of people playing games again and again because of the "deep ruleset" I see people lining up at crap games because it's flashy and congratulates them even when they suck! That's how all them fancy new redemption games do it. Have you seen those new GIGANTIC Space Invaders games? You can play them for a solid 5 minutes and set a high score and then you get like... 2 maybe 3 tickets? If Premier was around in today's world putting out what they did in the 90's with updated licenses, of course, I think they'd be on top again.
Quoted from woody76:I'm digging my devils dare. Super fun.
Great game! I personally would prefer to own a Devil's Dare instead of my Gorgar. DD has such an interesting layout.
Big fan here. I absolutely love the street level series. For cost cutting, single level games, they play like a dream and the layouts are so different and creative.
Quoted from thestreetzking:Tim thats amazing, I want color for mine!!
The video was just to see how the colorizing was looking on the actual DMD. I still have a lot to learn to try and get pin2dmd to hopefully work on my Tee'd Off, but the files will be free to anyone having a pin2dmd that wants them.

Exactly, man!!

Thanks for sharing, man! These are great!
Quoted from RyThom:Nice shirt!! I've got my red one on today.
Thanks, dude! Hahah nicee. The logo looks awesome
Game is a blast, Dennis. Good luck with it! You're gonna get the Gottlieb bug and search for other street level games. They are truly under appreciated gems. Silver Slugger is one of the best "spinner" games out there. Congrats on the purchase.
Quoted from DennisK:Finally picked one up this past weekend (only Gottlieb I've had before was a woodrail).
Man, I love the detail on those plastics
I am also a fan of Gottlieb's pinball machines of this period, except the last 80A and 80B (with some exceptions). The best meets the worst From the conception of certain models, it can be seen that at a certain period it was absolutely necessary to reduce the costs of production. This is less obvious with SYS 3.
Never played this beaut, thanks for sharing
Quoted from RWH:What!, you mean there are actually people out there who don't like Gottliebs ????
Yeah! Newbies who only like popular games
Quoted from Elevatorman:For sale in the Marketplace.

Quoted from HighProtein:They are all mostly good bang for buck minus that trash can Wipe Out...
Wipeout is great!

Thems fighting words, lol.
Quoted from Matesamo:Finally joined the System 3 club with a trade for Waterworld. The important thing is the kids love it, multiball is great and the rules are solid.
That is a beautiful example

Is he shooting a smoker under the game?!? There must be some pure dirt under there

Did you play at the Pinball HOF?
Quoted from Isochronic_Frost:Did you play at the Pinball HOF?
I diddd, man. Really neat concept

By the way, do you actually have a Bell Ringer? Think you could post pictures on this thread? Thanks!
Damn I'd love to get a Going Nuts but between rarity and said price of rarity it's not likely to happen
Here are two of my favorite system 80 games. I've been looking for Robo War for quite a few years and finally picked it up last month (not yet shopped and still needs a NOS translight). Diamond Lady isn't just my favorite system 80, it's one of my favorite games ever. The various rules with the drop targets, countdown bonuses and essentially a requirement that you aim for bank shots adds complexity not found on many other games.
IMG_4993 (resized).JPGIMG_4994 (resized).JPGIMG_4806 (resized).JPGI've done some pretty in depth restorations to 3 80b games now. All have had the playfields repaired and clearcoated. I also redid the cabinet art on them. I now offer replacement ramps for the Gold Wings and Arena, thanks to these projects. The Arena just came back up for sale in the Buffalo area if anyone is interested.
