48 year run.....why stop now. Doc told me years ago "2 drinks a day is good for me". no more, and at at least 1
Every time I see him he says, so how we doing? 2 drinks, right? I answer "yep"....."at least 2 drinks per day". We just laugh..I love this guy and he just retired. I just hope things don't change with the new young guy replacing him...or I may have to go shopping.

    Quoted from dirkdiggler:

Question for those who have successfully quit drinking. How did you handle social situations at first? I live in a small town and the only entertainment/social gatherings are at the bar. Not sure if I could handle hanging out with people getting drunk while I stay sober.

It's not bad...and I know others who can not have alcohol for health reasons enjoy it and you may be surprised that's all you need to be a part..worth a try?

    Quoted from TheLaw:

Yeah. 18-24 depending on the number of days drinking.

Sounds about right. Years ago my Dr. put me on a " I want you to take 2 drinks every day". My wife on 1 drink per day. Lite beers for me ..my wife seltzer/wine ,our choice.
I wind up around a case a week because I like 2 to3 per day..(he is not approving 3)..and I do get labs every 6mo..textbook.
I take a week off every so often.
    I love my Dr

    Quoted from swampfire:

I’ll be a week sober tomorrow, and I’m still having pain in my right side. I guess I need to open my wallet and go see my doctor. Hopefully it’s just my liver healing itself. Meanwhile, I just did the math on my last binge:
    8 beers * 12 ounces * 7.3 % = 7 ounces of alcohol
    But “it’s only beer”, haha.

Get your labs done EVERY 6 months!!!..it is THE most important thing you can do...more likely if on side, "kidneys", make sure you are hydrated. I love drinking as long as my labs say I'm ok (every 6 mo) Light beer only for me. I stay the way from hard stuff.
I enjoy the hell out of beer...will be hard to give up if labs ever show something amiss. 67ys old and Dr. says liver is better then most young people.
I hope nothing changes. If so, I will change.

    Quoted from grantopia:

I was VERY skeptical of the Bud Zero as I'm not a big domestic swill beer guy, but it tastes pretty damn close to the real thing. It's not too expensive and low calorie so I've been keeping a pack around for when I just want a beer for the sake of having a beer. It's not the best thing ever but honestly better than I expected.

Glad it works for you. I had a chance to try this over the weekend and it tasted pretty stanky to me...I even check the date cause it was so bad. I was hoping since I like bud lite, it would be close. I love beer but, don't always need the alcohol.

Ha! There are definitely better NA beers to be sure, but for the price i was pleasantly surprised. Give the NA Guinness a look...its very close IMO.

    Quoted from mrm_4:

I think the thing that throws people about Bud Zero is it seems like it would be lighter than Bud light but that’s not the case it is a NA “Budweiser”
This weekend at Northfield Casino my wife and I ordered Heineken Zeros at Kosar’s and hers was awful. We poured it in a glass and it was brown and tasted like death while mine was gold and fine. So sometimes you can still get a skunked NA.

I will, I was hoping that since both were rice based, they would be alike.

My gosh...dropping sugar was EZ..(and I was candy crazy) Became a dietetic...for me, salt is my replacement..labs are great...just will power.
