Quoted from PinMonk:

I transferred it to a new wheel. I think I used gentle heat, but I may have used freeze spray, I don't recall.
You WILL need to put some new 467MP on the back to refresh the adhesive of the sticker for the new wheel, though.
Digikey has a 5 yard roll, 3" wide for $18. Should last you a long time for these kinds of projects. I have a giant roll (50 yards? 100 yards?) of 3" I got like 20 years ago that I'm not even 1/2 way through.
https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/3m-tc/3-5-467MP/2649275

Had a little adventure getting the 467MP tape... Digikey main base is about 2 hours away but it's finally here.

467MP is a great thing to have around for pinball. EXCELLENT for making new target stickers, putting the stickers back on the underside of ramps, re-adhering the insider connected QR sticker on the backboard etc, etc. I have a giant roll I got back when it was a lot cheaper and am not even halfway through it.

Also, protip, peeling slowly is a bad idea. Pull off the length you think you need quickly so the sticky layer doesn't pull off from the backing or bunch up and make a mess, then if you overshoot, you can always roll the excess back on.

Thanks... that helped.

I thought I took enough pictures. Having trouble not getting wires caught up in reels. Any ideas?

I have finished my W?D restoration but in testing I get rejected from the phone hole shot nearly every single time
Is it supposed to have that metal piece facing this way pictured or am I upside down?

That looks like some kind of homemade deflector. It is connected under the playfield, but the manual shows a more normal ball deflector being connected to the top side of the playfield. Part number 01-14087.

Are there screw holes on the top side behind that homemade protector.

Upside-Down

UpsideDown (resized).jpgUpsideDown (resized).jpg
#758 2 years ago

Correct. Checked mine and can confirm yours is mounted upside-down.

#759 2 years ago

Thank you everyone, it is an original part and upside down, all sorted and now my restore is finished!
Here are a few pics, I did the following to the machine
Clearcoated playfield
Cabinet repainted black with glitter effect - it is a casino after all
New cabinet decals
New plastics
New centre ramp (now I’d like the other 2 ramps)
Post leds on all possible star posts
Custom painted roulette wheel
Dice shooter
Artbldes
NOS original translite (was a good find)
Extra flasher added to the auto fire area (that one drive me nuts)
Color dmd lcd
PDI glass
Plus the normal polished rails, lockdown bar, new legs, rubbers and leds. Did light pink under the appropriate plastics

Very nice job! Not a huge mod guy but I do think the taxi & pink led's in the right areas make it look great.

Hi!

Im on my way to buy a W?D and I need your advice!

There's one in pretty good condition except for the inserts, see attached pictures. The offer on the table is 33000 sek, approx 3560 usd.

The other W?D is in very good condition, GI led, nice cabinet and playfield. The playfield is professional painted. He wants 40000 sek, approx 4300 usd.

Which one would you go for?

Kind Regards

I would go for the less playfield damaged one.

700 bucks difference? Not really worth taking about. Take the better one, and put a protector in it and enjoy it for a long time. unless you plan on just playing the hell out of it disregarding further damage caused. Then taker the cheaper one.

Another way of looking at it. A good price makes you happy once, a good machine makes you happy every time you play it.

Thank you for the advice! This is how the more expensive one looks like

Last question for now : 4300 usd, is that a "good" price? Or how much would you offered?

By US standards in the current market, that is a very fair price, especially for the one with the better playfield.

Im living in Sweden, and from what I've seen the price of a W?D in an average condition is selling for 3000 - 3600 usd.

I don't want to be fooled, thats why Im asking alot abou the offer on the table

Unfortunately, the prices are high right now. If its something you want, I would get it. If your looking to restore one, you can get side art no problem, its the playfield that would be the challenge to find. My 2 cents.

Yeah, I have no idea about the Swedish pinball market. I only know that the price of the better playfield version is fair based on the US market pricing. I'd definitely go for the better playfield one.

#776 2 years ago

Yea I’m Australia where I’m at the market is higher, a good W?D is at least $5000 USD here

#777 2 years ago

Can someone confirm that the slot reel opto switches are normally closed and only open when the reel is in the position with the gap in the reel?

Thanks.

My last question about the W?D with the "better" playfield. Is this cabinet in good condition?

Hard to tell when there is only 1 pic of the cabinet. Doesn’t really matter what the cabinet condition is in as long as it’s not water damaged and even then it could be fixed

I found some pics of the cabinet.

You have the last opinion, what about the playfield? 1-10?

Lots of touchups to the black, but still pretty decent shape. Besides, if it bothers you, you can get a full set of new cabinet decals for less than $250USD and make the cabinet like new.

Hi Club!

Thanks to you, I will be joining the club in two weeks

I want to do some easy fixes to start with and I want to get some tips from you guys

I want to add led in the backbox/behind translite.

Im wondering which led colors and where to put them to get that "pop" effect?

Kind Regards

I have purple LEDs mostly that were put in by the previous owner. I also just put the color DMD in. It makes it really nice now.

Was smelling something melting (the machine was on for a couple of hours). The plastic on pin 8&9 on connector J121 (general illumination) was molten away a bit. Took the board out and it seems previous owners must have had some issues with this connectors when I look at the soldering mess...
The fuses in F108 are 5A 220V which seems to be the right ones.

Anyway I can replace the connector but what should I really be doing to prevent future issues?

Wow, that is some terrible board work.

You should re-check and fix all the board work. There are some transistors that have been changed. Are the new transistors the right ones? It shouldn't smell like the board is melting just from having it on. Something is wrong.

The replaced transisters are the same make and model as the one which arn't replaced. Checked with the manual and those are the right ones.
I think I'll just start with patching up the board work. And hopefully figure out the problem along the way.

Aside from fixing that board up properly I would replace all GI bulbs with LEDs to reduce the load on the connector. These ones are very close to regular incadescent bulbs imho.

Man good call on the extra flasher lamp for auto fire. Need to consider that. Funny I had a taxi in the same spot but moved towards back left flasher. Color dmd too on this end but yours overall looks awesome great job. Gotta grab that new ramp too but you're right would want the outer ramps remade too. Good job on that
