    Anything mechanical will make noise. I can't say I would actively seek the clacking of flippers, though.

    The sound of a knocker, however--I do enjoy hearing the thwack.

    I know when the industry started converting from EMs to solid state, people missing the chattering noises EM pins made. I don't recall which pins they were, but for a short time, a few games included fake EM assemblies to reproduce the chattering noises of a score reset.

    [edit]: They were called dummy score reels, and included in a couple early Williams games, such as hot tip and lucky 7. You can see the blank score reel assembly in front of the chime assemblies:
