In a nutshell, the Q15 transistor went bad causing the coil to lock on with the flipper up.
I removed the old transistor with no problems and then went on to lift two of the pads while trying to remove the leftover solder. Is there anyone who can fix this for me and solder in the new transistor (and one other transistor that went out, that one drives the left flashers in the back panel)? Very disappointed in myself for effing up the pads, Ive succesfully replaced transistors on Williams boards before and had no trouble, but this board no such luck. So Id rather send it off to a pro. Please let me know if anyone is willing/able to take on this board repair, thank you.

I may be wrong but that q15 only seems to have connections on the bottom side. So you could easily try using a vacuum pen to clear the solder out of the theee holes, and then simply put a new transistor in and solder it cleanly from the bottom. The pads may be somewhat raised but it looks like you’ll get a good solid connection with a careful hand.

Thanks Markharris2000 if thats the case then there is still hope. Not sure I want to risk further damage but will take a look and see if thats still an option.

I think there is a guy last name “Heber” that can fix the board it if you get in a real jam. Search for him here on the Forum.

ChrisHibler is probably who you’re thinking of. Can’t hurt to ask him.

Borygard is another option. Not sure if they’ll take on the task or not.

The service department at the Stern factory should be able to repair it.

I dont solder stich anything, I only do high reliability thru hole repair, but this is a high skill and time consuming process which is not cheap. This type of repair is guaranteed for the life of the board.
