What rom should I be running?
I need to dial in this game. So many sdtm with no ball save! There is a room with a ball save isn't there?
Good info there.
I've a feeling I'll be getting rid of it and the star post when I strip her down.
Another quick one.
My shooter Lane switch is fine but the game goes into ball search after 5seconds.with the ball in the lane. This normal? I'm on an early rom.
I'll wait till I upgrade my rom and see what happens.
Actually now that I think about it.
If you do a hard launch and the ball goes SDTM the ball doesn't get kicked back out.
But.....
you do get 5000 points.
must be a stuck switch/opto somewhere.
That would explain the ball search too.
If someone could do me a favor and post a pic of the switch test levels screen that'd be great!
Thanks
Need a favor !
could someone take a pic of the bottom right of their driver board?
I have a wire off.
But every thing checks out against the manual.
the red wire is bundled up with the single yellow in J136.
Thanks

Edit-
J134-9 red-grey (lamp row 8 ) to coin door board.
must be for the start button?
Its not working but i guessed bulb

Top man skypilot!
and thanks to calvin for the info.have roms on order.
found some leaky caps on my driver board too
reading the manual I also found I have the wrong bulbs in the topper
2014-11-08 16.39.00.jpg
I'd hardly say its a no brainer
You'd have to upgrade the speakers too.
If my sound board was dead yea Id buy one.
same goes for DMD
So you ordered one tamoore?
Quoted from webdiddy:Okay, so I'm finally in the Wh2o club!
I need some assistance right away from my fellow rafters.
My "center" pop bumper is not working. This is what I tried so far.
New coild "DONE"
Check the fuses "DONE"
Check the bumper skirt switch "DONE"
Checked for loose connectors on the boards "DONE"
Checked all the nuts and bolts on the bumper "DONE"
Make sure the coil gets power "DONE" (even managed to shock myself)
I'm not sure what else to do, any suggestions?
Look at the manual,
find out what transistor controls it.
If you touch the metal tab on the transistor to ground with a piece of wire (the mounting plate in the bock box will do) doe it fire the bumper?
but before that.......does it fire in test?
Quoted from judremy:One thing I love about WH2O (and LOTR) is that you are able to choose your mode before starting it unlike some games where the modes are random or always in the same order. It allows much more strategy. The hard part (on WH2O) is getting the pop-bumpers to cooperate with what you want to start.
How do you choose?
Im on a old rom atm
Quoted from webdiddy:Just tried the wire method on transistor Q48 and nothing happened. In test mode the bumper is also not reacting.
I'm not an expert by any means but I'd say that transistor is busted.
Thats where I'd start anyway.
Quoted from judremy:It is based on which light is blinking in the Boulder garden. Hit insanity falls then the whirlpool and that award is given.
Ah I did know that,I thought you meant you could pick before you launched the ball.
OK. I haven't got many other ideas but one thing I'd try before I'd take the board out it is.
Find the wire the corresponds to q48
Pop it out and stick it in with one of the other pops and make sure it's firing.
If it does you'll know for sure the problems further up the board.
after that I wouldn't be comfortable giving advice!
The snow makes no sense,
white water rafting is a summer sport.
The playfield now looks totally out of place
Quoted from webdiddy:I wouldn't go as far as calling it a sport.
Things don't allways have to make sense as long as it's aesthetically pleasing.
What ever floats your boat.
Pretty sure rafting is a sport.
I think it looks better with bigfoot and the normal plastics.
bigfoot hotfoot now makes no sense and the dots arnt tied to the game anymore.
Quoted from webdiddy:And I'm sorry to say the look terrible all over.
Hmmm I might be with you on the watch out for the drop one.
The other one looks good imo.
Nice quality decals tho
Quoted from judremy:I don't think there are two plastics. I think the way that is made, you need to flip the plastic vertically and then the screw holes SHOULD line up.
Yes i am a dope
My whirlpool lit lamp has stopped working I think it's lamp number 55.
But the Manual says this lamp is not used?
Where are the diodes for the two lamps?
I'm going to look at it later hopefully.
Thanks
got this sorted.A loose pin in a connector.nice and easy!
After i rebuilt mine it seemed to take longer for the ball to drain down the pool.
The ramp wasn't seated properly and that fixed it .
so i guess leveling could cause it
Quoted from Jam_Burglar:It might also be that the bottom of the whirlpool isn't fitting into the playfield/lightboard hole just right.
This was exactly my problem!
I put the comet led strips under mine.
They look the part but were throwing too much light out from under the boulders onto the pf.
So I made some cardboard "reflectors" to keep the light in.
Quoted from leatherface:Wow never knew about those, great looking product. Thanks.
Which colour did you go with? Any chance of pics?
Yep,
As usual the pics dont tell the truth,
the mountains just glow and dont light up around them too much at all.
2015-02-09 19.34.39.jpg
No idea why the whirlpool looks so bright but its not!
Quoted from OLDPINGUY:There is a Flasher under Bigfoots cave on the right. What play field switch or event triggers this flasher?
not 100% but is it during big foot bluff or camera craze?
Quoted from Elicash:My favorite "tricked out" options are a color dmd and the Bigfoot spotlight mod. The latter seems pretty basic, but once I installed, it really adds a nice effect.
Have you a pic of the board that makes it work? And a video of this in action?
I also agree about the white mountains.
Its like putting star wars toys in a sttng!
I think it looks good on the back mountain,
maybe a bit heavy on bigfoots cave tho, like icing on a cake!
Yep. I'm embarrassed!
Switch was registering but not registering when the ball was resting,
All sorted now.
I put those strips under all my mountains too. They looks great but as you say you need to make shelfs to stop the light bleeding out all over the place.
The back is impossible to light evenly.
You should get the missing mounting mod.
It really ties the game together.
Quoted from mot:White Water and Addams Family are a great pair. I believe that they are the only two games where the name of the game isn't on the translite/backglass.
add Jurassic park lost world to that list
Im fairly sure mine feeds to the left flipper.
I'll check again later.
Sometimes my lost mine kicks sdtm or just dribbles out and goes out the left outlane. So frustrating.
Quoted from fiberdude120:Hey guys ,my topper has LEDs and they work horrible. What bulbs work best in the topper?
Well get them out or you'll be in trouble.
That circuit is 14v (maybe 20v) so use 194s like the manual says!
Quoted from billsfanmd:gonna replace my ramps. Anyone have a picture guide of getting ramps back together. Never torn down a Wh20 and looks a little confusing getting ramps back right
Just go in reverse for when you take them out!
Quoted from billsfanmd:Im sure once ramps are out I can just put back in reverse.
Looked for this on other threads. Best way to clean a rusty ramp flap?
Light sand paper works for me.
1200 with water
Just bend the metal till it works.
also thats a diode and you should be able to reuse it!
solder should be fine
Quoted from Sciddleybop1980:Judge Dredds pinball mountain led strip installed. Looks great and brightens those mountains up nicely
image_(resized).jpeg
I dont know why anyone would give £20 for this?
Whats the difference between this and a led strip?
Quoted from Sciddleybop1980:Judge Dredds pinball mountain led strip installed
Quoted from Mokthemagicman:I can't find the missing mountain but the skull mountain I can only find here Very expensive
http://www.pinballdecals.com/PartsByGamePages/WhiteWater_Page.html
That used to be available on ebay for alot less
Well Start at the start!
you must have a short.
pull out all the bulbs in that circuit ans see does the fuse blow.
then follow the cables and check every socket for a short.
look into the sockets and check theres no washers or nuts or lumps of solder in them.Ive seen that before.
Quoted from Whitewater:Thanks urbanledge
I will give that a go. I'll have to remove the mini playfield which I have never done before.
Its fairly easy.
might be an excuse to get the ramps out for a clean
Quoted from thewool:I have Dredd's ready to go on my machine. They look a lot better in terms of fitting the theme.
can we see them?
i'd like them too
The winter theme is so stupid,
Its a crime against pinball
its like converting an original donkey kong to a 2 player street fighter with a 16x9 lcd screen and light up buttons.
Thanks,
The shipping to Ireland is robbery.
about 50 dollers.
I bought a set for another game from the states recently and it was $30
Quoted from judremy:Also, the surfboard on top looks to be blue & red on the backglass.
I dont think its a surfboard,
Its supposed to be a canoe or kayak or something.
I hate to be a prick but that mod is just bad,
The metallic paint ?
The alloy wheels?
A surf board?
the text is all wrong.
In fact it looks like a PT cruiser!
I have one in my sttng,
If i could I'd have them in all my games.
saying that tho it all depends on what the community has put together.
sttng has all the music from the original soundtrack.
a guy is working on white water but PPS are giving him shit
I have the comet leds under mine and it looks fantastic!
I had to make some cardboard shapes to stop light leaking out under the boulders.
I've always wondered about my shooter spring.
I've bought the "right one" from 2/3 different shops but never found one i felt was right
Quoted from mbaumle:If you plan to LED the GI, I'd probably spring for the OCD board, since White Water uses TONS of GI dimming effects. Without it, the game would be a strobe/flicker fest.
Or just dont use LEDS.
Off all the games that dont need leds WH2o is near the top!
mine looks like allibasters,
I used comet strips in white under all the mountains including big foots cave.
I did find a lot of white light washing out from under the mountains onto the PF so made up some thin cardboard "blocker" that go under the mountains to stop the light going out
Quoted from 27dnast:My WH2O has brand new rottendog boards. So I'd be surprised if backbox boards were an issue.
Quoted from webdiddy:Just wanted to show off my little hotglue waterfall I made.
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Looks like big foot blew his load all over your game
Try changing the swich matrix ICs.
The socketed ones just below your NV ram .
If you put 12v down the switch matrix then will blow.
Its been an age since I did any fault finding on B/W games (or any games at all!)
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:You are very wise. Zooming in on the few pictures I took when I removed it to troubleshoot last night, there appears to be a dark mark on one of the connectors along with a crack in the chip itself. Assuming this was indeed the issue, how would I go about getting a replacement for this? I have attached the picture in question and highlighted the chip in question in red.
To others here, does that look like a bad chip?[quoted image]
Thats definitely toast all right!!!
Happy to help,
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:You were right! I threw the $3 replacement chip in there and she fired up like a charm!
Good,
I remember when I exploded that IC in my getaway.
my heart sunk
Quoted from PinDeLaPin:Been waiting a long ass time for this and am happy for sure. Really sucks though that you have to buy a pinsound setup to apy it cause those aren't cheap.
mine been in the box 2 years waiting.........
I finally got around to installing my pin2dmd and pinsound boards in my WH2o.
The Jakusu hillbilly mix is great.Highly recommend it
I wasn't into it at first but it's really grown on my FAST.
Just waiting for the full colour pin2dmd file now.Due this week on VPuniverse.
Maybe over the weekend.
He hasn't redone any of the music.
Just new callouts with voice actors.
I know endproduct is doing one also.
Anyone got a copy of the files they could share?
Thanks
Edit-didnt see the donation not, will be in contact!
Thanks for the hard work!
Quoted from daveyvandy:I was occasionally getting a stuck ball from a soft plunge between where the spine chiller ramp meets the upper play field. After some minor adjusting it seems to be okay.
mine has been like this for years.
Only happens when i guest plays.......so annoying .
Quoted from TheLaw:No thanks, fine the way it is
While I've never had an issue with the original I'm curious to see what it would be like!
Now I'd love to see a TFTC alt trans!
Quoted from Lhyrgoif:I'm to scared to drill into these brittle plastic ramps. There are already cracks in the ramp because of previous owners over tightening the nuts. Guess I have to counter-sink using a small file then. Was hoping I just had the wrong fasteners.
Edit: Ok, so I went with the counter sink approach but used a hand driven tool for better control/slower drilling to make sure I wouldn't crack the plastic or go too deep. Used a 7mm wooden drill and drilled just a tiny bit down. Now the screws fit nicely and doesnt protrude at all.
10/10 would drill again
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Dont use a drill.
Use a hole debur tool.
Quoted from visualmagic:There is so many I am not sure which is the right one.
none of them
Years ago I bought a 110v STTNG that was imported to Europe and plugged into a 220v socket.
I bought it off the guy for 500e as it stood and as far I remember it was a very very easy fix.
There is a MOV metal oxide varistor near the switch and it had blown and I think that was it!!!
