I guess I’m part of the club now after a long search!

The electronics look good and are pretty shiny, the ramps are not perfect but OK, the cabinet needs a complete make-over and the playfield… well, that’s what worries me. I have two options:

1// buy a Mirco playfield to replace the old one (and wait a year before installing it because it’s not cured??), hoping the drilled holes match.

2// carefully remove the big pieces of dirty Mylar (scary), clean everything, give the PF a light sanding, applying a thin layer of clean coat, ask a professional airbrush artist to do some touch-ups here and there and clean coat until done. Respecting the curing periods and sanding of course.

What is my best option? Is no. 2 even possible on a Diamond Plate or is that asking for trouble? Am I crazy to even try this on a WPC?

I have another question: how do people clean Bigfoot’s fur? Hahaha! No really.

Quick ROM question: do I need to worry about changing security chips etc. when upgrading from LH-4 to LH-5 or LH-6?

Thanks!

I received “next gen” cabinet decals for my White Water a while ago. Now that I’m almost ready to install them, I find them purple-ish instead of blue. The sharpness and colors of the mountains and Bigfoot are great though. Should my new decals match the blue I see on the playfield and old cabinet? I read somewhere that all White Waters were purple-ish when they came out of the factory, is that true?

Quoted from Davi:

Original is dark blue. In fact same blue as in Funhouse.
Can you post few pictures (cabinet vs new decals)?

It’s pretty difficult to get the right color on camera, but here’s an idea. Does this look like the right color? Again, the quality is top notch though.

Quoted from Pinkitten:

It does appear a slightly purple blue, but still looks very good imho. Are you going to fill, sand and paint the cab blue? White Water, Funhouse, etc., can look awesome when painted well and with new decals!

Yes, I’m actually about to accept the purple touch because it does look good. I’m filling, sanding and everything, that’s the idea. I’m also thinking about clear coating the cab decals once applied. I’ve seen a few examples in the forums and it looks amazing. Just like glass!

Slowly and gently fighting hard with Mylar here!

Is there a free website where I can download and print a new White Water Martix Label to staple in my cabinet when it’s repainted?
I’m also searching a WPC Fuse List that goes in the backbox.

Thanks!

Confused noob here...

The old WPC Fuse List I found in the backbox and the Tech Chart I found on pinballrebel.com tell me F115 is Fast Blow, but the manual says it's Slow Blow. F601 and F602 are Fast Blow according to pinballrebel.com, the old WPC Fuse List and the manual say they're Slow Blow. Is it safer to always pick Slow Blow if you're in doubt?

That's not all though, the manual and the Tech Chart from pinballrelbel.com are similar when it comes to the GI colors:

F106 GI5 White-Violet
F107 GI4 White-Green
F108 GI3 White-Yellow
F109 GI2 White-Orange
F110 GI1 White-Brown

but the old WPC Fuse List from the backbox tells me something else:

F106 GI2 White-Violet
F107 GI3 White-Yellow
F108 GI5 White-Green
F109 GI4 White-Orange
F110 GI1 White-Brown

I'm guessing the GI thing doesn't really matter, as long as everything works, right?

Quoted from Our_Man_in_Oz:

It can add up fast. Sometimes the resto can get out of hand pretty quickly with well used machines.

What is the "right" / "respectful" thing to do when selling the machine once fully shopped?
Adding the amount spent on repairs, replacement parts and mods to the initial price?

#6956 1 year ago
Quoted from pinballizfun:

Anyone spending more than market value for a game just because the seller "put money into it" should just go buy a different one.

Ah, "market value" and everyone's interpretation. That's an interesting topic on its own.
But I get what you're saying. It's just that I see some people putting so much money into one machine and wonder what they'd do when reselling it.

Howdy partners!

I need to ask for a huge favor: can someone scan this area in a high resolution for me please? I can't seem to find adequate images on the internet...
I will try to repaint and airbrush the drawing or make a decal if plan A doesn't work out.

Thanks in advance!

Quick question: this should be straight, right?

Mirror blades on a White Water. Good idea? If someone has a picture, I'd love to see it!

#7497 8 months ago
Quoted from DeeGor:

ended up taking them out, because it was just too tight and were getting scuffed up every time I lifted the playfield.

Thanks for the pictures! Good point about this game being pretty tight. I love the look of mirror blades though.

Quoted from bobukcat:

Surely a set of side protectors would have prevented that??? I always use them on any game with side art

I was thinking about getting those. Do they always fit, even when it’s very tight between ramp and mirror?

I'm in the process of restoring my White Water and will replace the backboard of the playfield. The one that came with the game when I bought it has 2 long screws on each side, sticking out in the back. They're pretty much positioned where the triangle brackets are screwed in. Are those original? I can't find a reason why they're needed...

The first picture is the front of the backboard, facing the playfield.
The second picture is the back of the backboard, with the screws sticking out.

Thanks!
