go lcd

#3354 1 year ago

I’ve never bought a color display before so this will be my first time doing so. Looks like LCD it is.

#3355 1 year ago

I have LCD's on all my games, the best... had an led on a stern and it was awesome... but man they are bright.... to the point my eyes could not really process the color separation at times. the LCD has a much softer feel, and more configurable just my 2 cents

Shopping out my game, the left screw hole for the flap to my insanity falls ramp looks like big foot got hungry and took a bite out of it! The screw isn't really holding very well. Is there any way to fix this or should I just let it be? I was thinking of patching it up with some wood filler and using the screw to form a new groove but I wasn't exactly sure.

You could fix that with saw dust and epoxy mixed together.

For a stripped screw hole in wood you can take some wood glue and fill the hole with a toothpick (or toothpicks if the hole is large enough). Then let it dry, clip off the excess toothpick, and reinsert the screw. Sometimes I pre-drill a small pilot hole to make sure the new screw goes in right if I'm feeling extra saucy.

For something like that, you may need to reconstruct the surrounding wood to reinforce things. You could always start with the toothpick trick and if that fails move on to more elaborate methods.

Those both sound like easy fixes. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the help guys.

Hey fellow Rafters, I need your help. Would one of you mind looking at your female 15 pin connector (harness side) that connects to the transformer?

I just put a new connector on and i may have swapped two wires by accident .

If you look you should have 2 blue wires of the 15, one is a blue/greyish strip, and one blue/violet stripe. see my pic below for reference is mine correct? thanks

I see 2x blue/grey on the female connector, and also on male side at transformer.
Same at other end (power driver board).

The greyish strip is actually white (was white in 1993).
According to manual, the power driver board end is blue/white.

I took out the rubber ring that came from the factory between the boulders. Does the post on the left come out too? Or does that post stay with a small ring?

I have the rubber going around all three of those posts, but I don't know if that is "official".

#3369 1 year ago

Do a thread search... Tons of info on the whole rubber/post set up over there

#3370 1 year ago

I just realized I didn't even put a ring on mine when doing my swap, I'm going to go back and put one on..

Looks like you left the other post in too. I took that one out. Do you have a rubber on it?

Personally I think the post is useless, the star post u circled however I think is needed as it acts as a diverter for the ball... The upper right one... Seems pointless to me

#3376 1 year ago

I’m thinking take them both out to achieve the maximum pop bumper action. I did take the far left post out and put a piece of Mylar over the hole. Is Nordman reachable on Pinside? Would love to hear straight from the designer what it was originally intended to be. Could this be the biggest mystery in all of pinball?? Haha!

But wouldnt the post hinder the back and forth, pop to pop action?

#3378 1 year ago

If I remember correctly someone who worked at Williams said it was put that way because of too many drains down the right outlane. I didn't close mine because I think its cheating and like Blitzburgh says there is not enough pop action.

What did you do with the posts? Leave and put rubber rings on them? Remove completely? Leave in one and remove the other?

I kept them both in and just put single rings on them. Worked just fine.

#3381 1 year ago

It would be really cool If Nordman chimed in to set the record straight.

#3382 1 year ago

Her ya go u can see both... Kinda

Yeah sorry I was on phone in the field. I think the point is there is no definitive answer.

Usually whenever asking something white water related I go with what Jam_Burglar says a few posts down

No worries. I had searched before and couldn’t find anything. So I did another search after you posted thinking i missed it. But came up empty again.

Seems like majority says take out the rubber. When it gets into the take out post(s), it starts getting very muddy.

#3387 1 year ago

On the wh20 i had i removed both post . I had lots more pop action and it didn't really drain out of the outlane anymore than with posts/rubber ring in.

#3388 1 year ago

I have a repo (Mirco?) playfield. There is no hole, or even markings for one, above the pop bumper, for a cone post.

I do have a small button ring on the single post near upper right pop bumper.

Mine looks like Blitzburgh99 in pict 3383 above

Does anyone have a HEP White Water? How did he restore it?

#3390 1 year ago
Quoted from Blitzburgh99:

Probably depends if it was a new production playfield or a redone older one. I perfer no posts and it gives more action and more randomness.

#3391 1 year ago

kerry_richard I have a Mirco also and mine was dimpled for both posts.

Thanks to mrwizzo, I’m in this club for the first time. Bought the machine for my fiancé, she absolutely loves this game!

I decided to give no posts and smallest outlane a try. I reset all of my previous game stats and will compare differences in play over time. Here are my stats from game set up with both posts/rubber ring and outlane all the way open.

In my experience having the rubber ring out does not add significant right drains, but it does add some. There is very little pop bumper action with the blocking rubber out. Leaving the rubber in eliminates right drains from the pops obviously, but it traps balls in the pops giving a lot more pop bumper hits.

Yeah right...

#3397 1 year ago

Absolutely did. She requested 3 machines, Aerosmith (which she got NIB), White Water, and Attack From Mars. 2 of the 3 have been delivered. AFM will be another year or so before I try and grab one. She loves pinball, hell she even requested 2 machines be put in our kitchen!

Ha! I was in the same boat. Got the game because my fiance is a huge outdoorswoman. Loves rafting, boating, camping, all that stuff. I honestly never played White Water prior to buying mine. I just thought it would be a theme both she and I would enjoy.
