Topper:
The 12v bulbs in the topper do get hot and use a lot of power. I just installed a new light chase board from Great Lakes modular and it has a switch which allows you to run 6v 555 bulbs in the topper. I am very pleased with the 6v bulbs and the water fall effect looks amazing. I don't think LEDs will give the same illusion of flowing water.
Skull mountain mod:
Apparently they will be back on eBay in the next couple of weeks.

Can you post the link to the one you bought? Curious about the price we are talking about.
if anyone on here is interested i have an "Ultimate" missing boulder (sold & now shipped) & have a complete uninstalled "ice blue" set of mountains .... never mind, both have been sold, at least i still have the machine
HI Everyone,
Just bought a whitewater about 2 weeks ago, doing a complete tear down and rebuild of the pin. Pulled the play field out of the cabinet to clean and repair some minor damage. all outside metal parts being painted metallic blue metal flake color. Missing mountains being replaced and all rubbers replaced as well. cabinet being fixed and painted etc. This will be a great game once complete.
will post photos once work is complete

Welcome to the club!
Well that's shame but at least it will play the same
here are a few of the photos of the work in progress, this is after we cleaned all the plastics and play field that was black with soot and dirt, and yellow from age. play field was actually in great shape under all that dirt. Photos are from last week and we have just replaced all the rubbers rings, lights with LED's and cleaned up the screws, posts, pop bumpers etc

Touch up, cover with Mylar.
Just a fan, not a club member, but I found this really informative about playfield fixing.

I would get a plastic playfield overlay. Sounds like the playfield may be worn in other spots if one is down to bare wood.
TECHNICAL HELP PLEASE ?
GI lighting issue & fuse blowing
Hi guys,
I would greatly appreciate your help.
Since I bought my WH20 the GI lighting on the top half of the playfield and mini playfield have never worked. I have replaced all the globes, but that is not the issue. I have used judremy's GI locator picture (thank you) to highlighted all the GIs that are not working in green. There are over 10 of them and many seem to use the same colour wires.
I have also noticed that I had a fuse that was blown and when I replace it and turn on the game it blows instantly, I have replaced it twice and it blows the moment the game is turned on. It is fuse F110.
Are these issues related ?
Can anyone please help give me a tip on how to fix it?
ps. nsmith, I'm sure your game will look fantastic when it is done, your doing a great job.
Regards
WW
Well Start at the start!
you must have a short.
pull out all the bulbs in that circuit ans see does the fuse blow.
then follow the cables and check every socket for a short.
look into the sockets and check theres no washers or nuts or lumps of solder in them.Ive seen that before.
Thanks urbanledge
I will give that a go. I'll have to remove the mini playfield which I have never done before.

Its fairly easy.
might be an excuse to get the ramps out for a clean
Definitely a short. You need to fine tune your tracing skills. Here is your opportunity. Make sure to check for solder splashes on the sockets at the same time.
Make sure to check all the wires! Check out this short I had just from a little screwing in
Another tricky one is a bend piece of metal that can contact the side rails AFTER you lower the game...sneaky.
I had this same GI line short out. My issue was a pinched wire under one of the metal posts that support the upper playfield. Was a bitch to find, because it was out of sight in service position. Had to pull the entire PF out of cabinet to access it.
If you cant find the obvious short, make sure to look there!
EDIT: Just looked at TheLaw's link to his short - Sounds like he and I had the exact same issue! Must be somewhat common. Check there.
Quoted from Elicash:Sounds like he and I had the exact same issue!
Wow...what are the chances? Well I guess better than we thought a minute ago
About 1 out of 10 times when someone hits a ball down the Insanity Falls ramp, when the ball drops back onto the playfield, it bounces/rolls straight into the outlane and is either saved by the kickback or drains if the kickback isn't lit. I'm not sure if it is backspin or something else causing this - does anyone else have this happen? Thanks!
Quoted from judremy:I would get a plastic playfield overlay. Sounds like the playfield may be worn in other spots if one is down to bare wood.
actually just in that one spot, as the play field is out of the cabinet and completely stripped down
I am wondering how hard it is to remove the whirlpool ramp / funnel ? Mine is cracked in the funnel resulting in ball hang-ups. I have a new ramp, but I am holding off on a full PF tear-down for a couple months so hoping to not have to do a major dis-assembly to install the new ramp so I can play for a few months before doing the full tear-down...
is this a 1/2 hour swap or a 2 hr swap?
thanks!
45 minutes max. You need to take off the top mini playfield though. I am thinking a 2 beer job maybe 3 depending on how fast you go.

It should never do this. Mine has never done this.

Thanks PjM! Think I'll go for it then so I can play and hold off on rubbers and lighting/cleaning. I like the beer-time, that's a great way to estimate how long it takes to work on a pinball project
Kneissl -- that's a funny looking Wh20 cab, I haven't seen one quite like it
Quoted from thewool:One thing is not clear to me, is the ball supposed to go SDTM from a full plunge?
If it doesn't, what is the tweak to stop this? My machine seems levelled, etc.
Thanks.
It is supposed to. The skill shot is getting it to go just over the hump and land on the upper playfield for the third flipper.
Quoted from yzfguy:It is supposed to. The skill shot is getting it to go just over the hump and land on the upper playfield for the third flipper.
Thanks for that. I'm a bit surprised that is by design though. Its a bit brutal for my young kids and my Mrs.
Mine feeds to the left flipper if the skill shot is missed....... I think. One things for sure it doesn't drain. I can't imagine it was designed to drain especially as it didn't have a ball save.

Should feed left flipper
Quoted from yzfguy:Mine drains about 95% of the time on a full plunge, but nobody full plunges whitewater anyway
My 4 yr old does
Let this be the first of many lessons for him.....you don't full plunge wh20, you don't eat food right out of the oven, you don't play in the street....all have negative results
Anyone know where to get blue river targets that match the original?
I had one break, ordered one from pinball life but it turned out to be the wrong shade of blue despite being the right part.
Wow, talk about doing it the hard way
What happened to the MB?
Quoted from Kneissl:Finally got mine playing tonight. Picked up a pile of parts from Eastern Europe, then found or made the rest bit by bit. Wired playfield from scratch.
Lots to do still, but the major fun milestone has been reached.

It was a free empty cabinet when I found it. I assume someone did a nice restore on their MB.

It shouldn't do this. Check to make sure your pf is level, and your ramp is secured down properly.
